For those wanting to know the numbers. You won't be getting 500hp on flex or pump or a stock turbo. It's race fuel. 428 is what you get on flex. You're not getting over 400tq on this motor without flex. It's not possible.

"Up until now, FK8 owners had the following options or migration paths to improving performance of the K20C1 engine:
(Definition: FBOs = full bolt-ons)
Option 1) FBOs + Hondata $3,650
370 hp & 400 lbs-ft

Option 2) Flex fuel + Hondata $1,200
386 hp & 412 lbs-ft

Option 3) Flex fuel + FBOs + Hondata $4,150
389 hp & 421 lbs-ft
With today's announcement, new options or paths have been added:
Option 4) Flex fuel + FBOs + Fuel pump + Hondata $7,000
428 hp & 470 lbs-ft
Option 5) Race fuel + FBOs + Fuel pump + Bigger turbo + Hondata $8,600 - $11,000 (some bolt ons will be negated with certain big turbo kits, so with planning one could stay around $10,000)
506 hp & 461 lbs-ft
All the above have been tested by Hondata with a stock K20C1 engine with their R&D FK8 for nearly 12 months. We are happy to see this unique solution coming from the leading FK8 tuning solution provider, Hondata, and will provide more info in the weeks ahead as we continue to learn more about it. In the meantime, it's great to see the company pushing forward with innovative solutions and continue to make investments in offerings for the FK8 platform."
Great post, I enhanced it for conservatively estimated cost based decisions.
FBO +$2950 (exhaust $1100, intake: 450, intercooler: 650, downpipe: 450, frontpipe 300)
Hondata $700
Flex fuel: $500
Hondata Fuel solution: $2850
Bigger turbo: $1600 - $5000

Has anybody heard from KTuner though? Last time i heard, they were cooking something up but needed some parts to be publicly available before they released anything???

They were waiting for other vendors/Hondata to solve the fuel system problem. Technically, this fuel system upgrade (hardware parts) can be adapted to work on a KTuner device?

Don't see why not since KTuner and Hondata are tuning software. Both are using the same bosch ecu.

So does this mean that I should wait for this to come out or would I still need the flex fuel kit to run the ethanol?

That's the golden question....will @KTuner develop programming to run an upgraded fuel system on their software....please :bow::bow:

Call me a sceptic but I don’t see this happening. In the software world, there’s a saying that goes, “eat your own dog food” or “drink your own coolaid.” I don’t see competing software vendors supporting each other.

However, I'm pretty sure money talks. There's no doubt anyone with ktuner looking to make more power would drop $2800 for Hondatas fuel system. It's more money in their pocket and they don't have to spend a dime.

There are other companies that are going to be releasing kits. Hondata's kit is nothing special that others cannot source parts for their own kits. From what others have said, the fuel pump in the Hondata kit is a modified base hatch fuel pump.

Now we just need more DI pumps to come on the market to add competition and bring the price down. Or one that doesn't come with unnecessary pieces. I saw that on the focus RS their after market fuel pump for going beyond 450hp was $1500. That's a bit more reasonable.

I know...but the ECU needs to have the ability to tune it...Ktuner doesn't support fuel upgrades at this time.

Right, but they will release support. They were just waiting for options.
Fingers crossed

Hope so. It's been sooo long since any actual type-r updates or any kind of info relating to it. It's very quiet over there in @KTuner land. I'm hoping for a big update, but I won't hold my breath.
