Why do you say that about the Honda dealer and ostensibly the Honda stock clutch? Have you tried an aftermarket clutch and if so how does it feel?
Because the dealer charges way more than is necessary to have a clutch changed. I run a Type R retrofitted flywheel and Type R clutch. It drives like an OEM clutch because that’s what it is, just a lot stronger.

Good lord these are Honda clutches basically bulletproof unless you’re a tool beating the shit out of the clutch and think this little 4 cyclinder is a dragstrip car.

I'm surprised by these too many clutch reports issue from the X gen Si.
Most of the time I have been an aggressive shifter, while spirited or track driving and did not had issues with my clutch: '82, '83 VW Jetta, '85 Jetta GLI, '95 Dodge Neon, '11 Mustang GT 5.0 w/. 3.73 rear (which I tracked) and '16 Camaro SS.
The only ones that gave me problems had a bad design of their clutches:
'81 Dodge (mitsubishi) Challenger
'02 Porsche 911 Carrera which I also tracked. It had a throw out bearing with a bad design that was corrected on later years.
My '95 Neon never game problems, but when I sold it to a close family member, in less than a month killed the clutch, because rided with her foot on top of the clutch at all times.

So on the X gen Si could be a weak designed clutch and/or some drivers that do not know how to drive a manual transmission car.

80k miles on stock clutch and it has never slipped. Wide open in gears 2-4 every day.

The clutch handles stock torque just fine.
-dont ride the clutch
-attempt to rev match your shifts
- don’t floor it below 2500 rpm or in gears 5&6 at all

Should have no issues getting well over 100k miles on the stock clutch

i recommend bleeding the slave cylinder at least every 50k miles or whenever you bleed brake lines. Really brings some firmness back to the pedal.

If you wait 8 years and 125k miles, your clutch pedal will feel like a wet noodle.

As a new SI owner i am slightly worried because of all this new clutch talk. I bought my SI used (20k miles) and was wondering how many of you have had to replace the clutch?
I bought my car with about 33k miles on it. Within a month I had to replace the axles, brakes and rotors, and clutch with synchros. That say enough with how the car was treated by the previous owner. After I had the clutch installed it ran good for about a week until I started having engagement issues. Not sure if the shop I took it to messed up or if I just bought a clutch that was too overkill for the car. But after replacing it again after that the car was perfect! I use a clutch masters clutch now with a competition clutch LW flywheel. Looking to get a wilwood cmc soon too.

34k miles and the clutch slips on tuned power but is fine on stock map. Car is on stock map until I have to absolutely change the clutch.
