Like many of you, our cars live outside. Specifically, mine is black and lives in the hot Florida sun.
I just purchased my car and would like to invest in some protection products. Main concern is the hard and soft plastics of the exterior, and keeping them from fading.
What do you guys recommend?
The products I have are:
-Wolfgang exterior trim sealant (haven’t used yet)
-Klasse AIO (only used on paint)
-Klasse Sealant Glaze (only used on paint)
Thanks !

Buy it by the gallon. Apply it everywhere with sun exposure. Smaller sizes branded slightly different but they’re all the same ingredients.

303 (30320) UV Protectant Gallon for Vinyl, Plastic, Rubber, Fiberglass, Leather & More - Dust and Dirt Repellant - Non-Toxic, Matte Finish, 128 Fl. oz. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00L4TF32G/

 It's fine on headlights and taillights (plastic). Spray on, wipe off to prevent runoff.

I have tried loads of product to preserve and restore plastic/rubber pieces over the years, including 303. None works for any length of time, one normal wash or down pour dressing is gone.

I don't enjoy repetitious process, it leads to nothing but time and money wasted.

I finally dipped into Gtechniq ceramic back in 2013 on my C6, but only limited to badly faded window/door rubber trim and other black plastic trim. Six years of no more follow up with dressing after wash or downpour leaded me to ceramic coat the new 2018 Sport last year as well as my C6 Corvette garage queen.

I used Kamakaze line of ceramic. Its been 15 months, both cars looks great.

Side note, I have also use Optimium Tire Protection and Coating on tires. Two months of weekly or no more than biweekly wash, tire coating remain pristine all without reapplication. I have been planning to do the wheel wells on the Corvette with tire coating soon as I get the time.

I gave away all my "other" car care products. Care care certainly is simpler now.

I do enjoy a clean looking car but I don't care to spend repetitious efforts to keep it looking clean.

Good luck

How difficult is the ceramic coat DIY? I would never pay someone to do it, but I don’t have a garage to be hidden from the elements entirely

Not difficult at all! Took me four days for each car in my garage. If no garage, I would invest in rigging up some tent type structure if at all possible.

Esoteric has tons of video on the subject. I would suggest if you want to take the diy route, study as many of their vids.

Good luck.

I worry about this as well. But, not much can be done. It's cold here most of the year, we only really get a couple months of truly hot & humid weather.

Gonna try Wolfgang exterior trim sealant. I have 303 aerospace wipes I tried on my 2006 Mazda 6’s dash board, and although it’s a little shiny at first, after a few weeks it’s left a dark black look, repels dust and looks like new.

P&S Bead Maker is an LSP that bonds to not only wax and sealant but silica based products (ceramic coatings, ceramic boosters) and provides UV protection.

I used it as a final top coat over my Opti-Coat Pro + Reload with no failures. Currently applying it over Powerlock + Collinite 845 on the Civic until I get the chance to put CSL + Exo4 on it.
