There is a guy who ran completely hoodless and it only gave him an additional 2 laps.In a similar thread here, titled "Civic Tye R at the track, the good and the bads," a recent poster says that removal of the aluminum belly pan, and the weather strip along the cowl, plus fully opening up the hood vent solves all heat soak issues, even on modded cars. Does anyone else have experience with this? I would not be inclined to open up the hood vent as that would expose the engine to direct rain, but...???
There are a lot of cooling mods out right now but the ones you will get the most out of will be oil coolers, radiators, and a opened up front grille. The rest of the mods IMO are not worth it. They will buy you a little track time but I strongly believe that funds can be better allocated elsewhere.
