Hey all,

I know there are a lot of people on lowering springs that are looking forward to an aftermarket strut/shocks option; I wanted to share some correspondence from Koni on their progress on releasing their shocks.

Interesting that they'll be making a single perch for all 10th gen Civics. Obviously there's no clear answer on exactly when they'll have something for us but I'm definitely happy that they do indeed have it on their horizon.

At least one company is working on aftermarket struts/shocks.

Bilstein already has a performance variant available. As well if you call a shop like Ground Control they can make you customs Koni's and valve it however you want.

Do you know which model? Most of us on lowering springs don't quite want to convert to coilovers because of ride quality and want to run aftermarket shocks alongside the lowering spring.

Would love to get my hands on Bilstein's shocks (not coilovers) if possible! Checked their website and searched by compatibility for the hatch and couldn't find any results.

I'll see if I can dig it up. The only set I have actually seen is what is on the PWC SI racecar.

Last time I tried to buy Koni yellows they were as much as a set of coilovers.

Bump with an update from Koni:

"Thank you for your interest in KONI shocks. We are currently working alongside our European Engineering team on an option for the 10th Gen Civic. Since this is worldwide platform our hopes are to offer a full body strut, instead of and insert like some previous generations. The dampers are still in the very early stages of R&D, and our European team is currently working on finding a new vendor for the stamping parts (spring seats, attachment brackets). Our next step once the stampings are sourced is to develop the prototype and being ride development testing.

Thus unfortunately, it will still be a while before we have anything in production.

I went through this with the 5th gen Camaro platform. GM produced it from 2010-2015, and Koni had oranges after a year or two, but didn't release the yellows until 2017, I believe. I'd like a set of yellows for the Civic, but I'm not holding my breath.

Talked to a rep from Koni at SEMA last week, they are working on the Koni Yellows for the 10th gens and he said it is one of their highest priorities at the moment. Couldn't provide me with an ETA, but did say the hold up is due to the shock perch supplier. At the moment he couldnt say if there would be a resistor included to cancel out the error code for the Si electronic dampers. Very excited for these to be released as I have had good experience with Koni on all my previous vehicles. Adjusting the rear shocks may be pain in the ass though depending on the knob location.
