SF <-> LA in a FK8. How often do I need to fill up?

I'm thinking about buying a CTR and was wondering how often I would need gas cruising at ~80mph going in between LA and SF. I was hoping to only have to fill up once either before the grapevine or in Livermore. Is this possible with a FK8 CTR and the 12 gallon tank?
Thanks

Should be doable if you shift at 2500 rpm in traffic (in LA and SF). You aren't going to maintain 80 mph in the cities. It's important to granny shift in traffic to maintain decent MPG (~20 mpg in traffic, ~28 mpg at 75 mph).

Thanks for the info.
Yeah I am not expecting to average those speeds in the city. I was thinking more for the 5 through the grapevine and the 580 to Livermore.

I just drove my CTR up after purchasing it at a socal dealer. Started from Anaheim (dealer had a full tank in it for me), and didn't have to fill it up until just before hitting 152. Drove it in comfort, shifting at 2000-2500 rpm, and 3000 when merging. Averaged about 32.1 mpg on that trip.

580/Livermore is a parking lot in the morning...and a parking lot in the evening.

Thanks for the additional info. Seems like it would be doable.
