The one thing I'd really complain about SI after jumping in from Type R is the brakes doesn't feel as strong or as easily modulated.
I brake so hard and with so little pedal control that I actually prefer the Si! I suck.

I only swapped pads on my Type R for the track and otherwise ran OEM. I have zero desire to swap pads on the Si, as like Des, I brake hard and late, so less bite = better.

Ferodo DS2500 and EBC Blue are the only ones I'd consider...

Since you're talking about my car, I'd agree that the brakes feel awful after a pro session. They come back, but they're not confidence inspiring until they do.

Curious what I should try next year as my stock original pads are already looking pretty low. I'm also pretty digital on the brake pedal, so prefer a pad with softer bite. Looks like the OE pads are pretty reasonable ($55f/$50r.)

We bought some HPS pads, but haven't installed them yet. Had a decent finish to the season at the last Nebraska Region event for the year. My son is already a much better driver than I am. He placed 1st in class 6th in pax. I was 2nd and 9th, respectively.

If I didn't have to be in the car with him, I think it is fair to say he would have picked up another .25 to .5 seconds easily, and he would have been right in the middle of a group of pretty accomplished drivers.

The weather was cold, and there was not much traction. That definitely helped our final PAX positions. I think the staggered setup might have some potential, but it would have been better to have a square setup this weekend. The car was drifting quite a bit, and we had our first spin for the year.

Here is some outside video of my best run complete with multiple instances of being late with inputs.

It's a great car. Probably need to get a little more serious about full competition prep and quit driving to events on the race tires.

Have you swapped out brake fluid for some good Motul or similar?

I haven't but I'm coming up on needing to swap out the fluid. I don't think the fluid would make such a big difference on a pure autocross car even.

That said, I hated the Hawk HPS 5.0 and I loved the EBC Redstuff. I wouldn't do the EBC Yellowstuff on a street/autocross car. The HPS 5.0 I felt was worse than stock, and the Redstuff better than both

Pros are kinda more severe use case for autoX tough....

I've been using ATE fluid for my cars....usually flushed pretty early on.

Yep, I'd flush fluid like a boss. I only drove the two borrowed GS Civics for a total of 4 events last year, but two of those were Pros, and with three drivers in each (plus Challenges for me). Zero brake issues...

School me on this boss like flushing process. :) Keep in mind, I hang with polish guys who ask such types of questions.

LOL

Just lots of pumping. I always flush autox cars with Motul the same time they get an alignment. Some cars would likely be fine, others like Matt's, not so much. Cheap insurance!

I use Powerstop track day pads/rotors (both front and back, and they are blank rotors) with good result in terms of good modulation and stopping power for both Autox and Track days, but please note below
Pro
Good Cold bite for Autox
Good modulation
Even better modulation once warm up at track, I use motul 5.1 brake fuild with it and there were no brake fade at all.
They are good till the very end, mine was less than 2mm left after my last track day for this year
Edited: they are cheap in the performance pad category

Cons
They are good till very end, but track day eat them up FAST, basically 2 lapping days and they are gone (total about 60 hot laps at my local 3.5km track), although Im aggressive on the braking side.
Very Dusty for daily
A little squeaky for daily
if you daily drive it a week or 2 without aggressive braking, you need to bed in the pads again for optimal performance (but this applies to most aggressive pads anyways). They are fine to drive without re-bedding in, just not at optimal performance

Th high temp at this event was 47deg (it was around 40deg when I was running) so I opted to run my 235/40/18 DD Michelin PS4S on the stock wheels over my normal 255/40/17 BFG Rival S and I somehow finished 2nd in PAX behind another Civic Si by about a second.

My 2 highest finishes in PAX this year have been a 1st and a 2nd on those Michelins. WTF?!?!

I recently purchased an Eibach RSB. Does it make more sense to get the Type R or Accord end links? Looking for something stronger with out paying aftermarket prices.

I think most people use the Accord ones (52320-TLB-A0,) they're cast aluminum and I think I got a pair for ~$40. Civic Si ones are plastic. IIRC the CTR ones are steel and welded together which is fine but they're like $35 each, more expense for no real benefit.
