Might be time to move on from this car.
thats really the best bet if your looking for a lot of power.
once you get into fuel upgrade kit and a big turbo kit, it's a decent chunk of money just for sub 500hp with pump gas.

Exactly... it's not worth the money.

I am happy with a solid 12sec, incredible handling, versatile family hatch :)

Good for you
and sad for others :( (and expensive)

Don't fret.
All will be rectified in time and there will be 600+ hp FK8 occupying the streets. We are still in the toddler stage, if not the infancy stage.

I asked this in a different thread and was wondering if someone could help me with it....

I like this a lot and would like to pair it with my aux port injection system in the future for added fuel control via the Hondata. My only concern is the additional pressure on the cam shaft. For upgrades like this on the RS and other European cars - aftermarket manufactures do acknowledge and warn users about the possibility of additional wear possibilities on the cam shaft.

I am only asking because I don't know enough about these HPFPs myself.

Is this going to cause this same issue over time?

Yummy like their hard candy ringlands or their chewy soft clutch forks? :D

Big torque is what causes engine failures. Now that Hondata has kindly addressed the fueling issue, maybe someone will address the head issues so this engine can rev like a proper K20. Then we can make crazy power with sane torque.

I’ll say it again: Most expensive inline turbo four to modify ever. :(

More expensive than the CLA45 AMG?

Also, 4Piston on their website has a valvetrain upgrade that should support 9k RPM. The head also needs a good pnp, the design is currently optimized for efficiency over performance.

For those wanting to know the numbers. You won't be getting 500hp on flex or pump or a stock turbo. It's race fuel. 428 is what you get on flex. You're not getting over 400tq on this motor without flex. It's not possible.

"Up until now, FK8 owners had the following options or migration paths to improving performance of the K20C1 engine:
(Definition: FBOs = full bolt-ons)
Option 1) FBOs + Hondata
370 hp & 400 lbs-ft
Option 2) Flex fuel + Hondata
386 hp & 412 lbs-ft
Option 3) Flex fuel + FBOs + Hondata
389 hp & 421 lbs-ft
With today's announcement, new options or paths have been added:
Option 4) Flex fuel + FBOs + Fuel pump + Hondata
428 hp & 470 lbs-ft
Option 5) Race fuel + FBOs + Fuel pump + Bigger turbo + Hondata
506 hp & 461 lbs-ft
All the above have been tested by Hondata with a stock K20C1 engine with their R&D FK8 for nearly 12 months. We are happy to see this unique solution coming from the leading FK8 tuning solution provider, Hondata, and will provide more info in the weeks ahead as we continue to learn more about it. In the meantime, it's great to see the company pushing forward with innovative solutions and continue to make investments in offerings for the FK8 platform."

The port injection (PI) solution is not nearly as clean of a solution as this, and I don't believe it will run as well (smooth power delivery, fuel economy, etc). The install and initial setup is complicated as well. The Hondata system is basically plug and play. The PI would in theory support more power though if you want to really push this motor to around 550 or more hp.

The guys at USR are pushing 492hp with pump gas. BUt they have a 4pistion built block and upgraded turbo with other things. Here is the thread https://www.civicx.com/threads/port-injection-at-last.29448/page-4#post-712050
Yeah, but it's not stock internals. Stock internals can't hold that kind of power on pump fuel. Also, the parts hondata are using will be a lot cheaper when sourced on their own. Stock fuel injectors aren't maxed out yet, so upgrades are not really needed. The fuel pump is just a modified base/hatch fuel pump. There are other companies with "kits" in the works that will be cheaper if you wait.
