Any experiences with other southeast PA dealers. I replied to the comment above and you seem to be in the same general area as me.

Thanks!
I live in Delaware, and we only have three dealers here, two of which i wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy, lol.
The third is an hour and a half away going in the wrong direction from you. I actually have close to an hour drive to get to Scott Honda. I would give them a chance, overall it has been a much better experience for me there, just the small communication issue.

This did seem strange to me. I had to have some things fixed on my HB under warranty. They gladly fixed the issues, but never offered me a loaner. Most they did was offer to call me an uber back home (but no way back to the dealership).

By contrast, any time I brought my MINI in, they ALWAYS offered me a loaner regardless of the amount of time they'd be holding my car. The MINI was expensive to maintain, but their service always made me feel good and valued. Whereas my civic never really has issues, but the dealership tends to not be the nicest or most courteous.
BMW dealers (of which Mini is part of) tend to have loaner vehicles available most of the time. The plan is almost always to get you in a like vehicle. If your car is coming to the end of its warranty, you will likely get something better-the hope is you decide to trade up.

All that said, loaner programs are a bitch to maintain. People also figure "fuck it, it's not mine" and tend to beat on them and the dealer is left paying to fix the vehicle. Bigger BMW dealers have a large number of cars, most of the smaller dealers can't maintain more than a few. Notice that most loaner vehicles don't have a lot of miles on them because once they hit the magic mileage, off to the CPO lot. Hope that explains why a some dealers don't do loaners but instead offer rides or Uber/Lyft credit.

I cannot speak to what Honda does but every time I've been to the dealer, it's been something I can usually wait for or find something to do nearby while they're working.

BTW, the brake flush someone mentioned isn't a mileage based thing-it's a time thing. Usually, once in the first year of ownership then every couple of years.

If you think something is warranty, it should be noted on the copy of the repair order you left the dealership with when you dropped the car off. Read the repair order, the writer should be able to explain anything to you before you leave. Just know that the definition of warranty is a defect in material or workmanship. Consumable items are usually not covered by warranty-if you roast a clutch in the first 100 miles, that isn't a warranty issue *unless* it's caused by a defect.

BTW, I'm a service manager for a motorcycle dealer who works with several major brands and most of our dealer required training is based on the automotive side. It might work and it might not :D

Also, Honda of America is just as awful. Trying to get Honda to warranty major repairs is like attempting to eat chipoltle without getting runny shits the next day.
You must be doing it wrong. :spaz::rofl:

because theyve already been paid by your bank/loaner. They dont really care about you and youre costing them money, they just want to sell you service and be nice to you when you talk about trading up

In my area (Alliston ON), I deal with Orangeville Honda, the dealer HCM deals with for their company cars. If a car is at the dealership for warranty work and it has to be there overnight, Honda pays for a loaner.

I've already put money down on a new 2020 CTR. I'm just trying, working through my assigned sales guy, to find out what tires will be available. (So I can make a choice for the second set that I will be buying.) I do realize that they can not possibly tell me what will be on the new ones but I'm trying to find out what would be on one they get now when the following email exchange occurred:

Q. Hi Txxxx, have you found out any information on the tires that may be available for me? I realize that you don't know what size wheel and tire that would be delivered on a 2020 but I was at least trying to find out what you are currently offering for the 2019 type R.

Three more emails are exchanged with me asking if they are summer or all-season etc. Not one specific is given, not size, not type etc.

A. Honda doesn’t allow us to Specify anything. They just assign us the car and we try to pick color.

Q. What tires are on the car when you get it from Honda? Are they the Continental summer tires?

A. According to our parts department, I can’t tell you accurate information until I have a vin # for that specific car. Then I will be able to narrow it down to at least 1 or two possibilities of what might be on the car when it gets here.

Sorry about the inconvenience.

At this point I give up.

I've done my share of complaining about Honda in general, and a few dealerships specifically, 98 percent of it legitimate of course, but my uncle has a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica.
Well,it's had three recalls already, and last week , the special battery that controls his van turning on and off when he stops at lights and stuff just died.
He immediately took it to the dealer,on a Thursday this was,and they proceeded to tell him, we can't guarantee your car will run, and we can't get your battery till Monday.
They then tell him that Chrysler doesn't do loaner cars and want him to pay over a hundred bucks to rent a car from Enterprise.
I don't know if this is common with other brands but,its just ridiculous.
I've been a day without a car, but never that long, Honda has at least always set me up with a loaner.
When I had a Jeep Cherokee 2015 with never ending problems they used to give me a loaner and eventually stopped because it was costing them too much money.

The first problem he made was buying a Chrysler... possibly THE WORST brand to exist today.

His Pacifica has terrible reliability ratings in consumer reports, but I can't tell him anything. He was a Chrysler employee and gets a discount, so he'll never buy anything else.smh

I'm saying they don't flush from the system, just change fluid in the master reservoir and TELL you they've flushed....
I'm sure there are mechanics who would do that but it becomes pretty obvious after a day or two...

I have a friend like this. We are all convinced that he likes to suffer. Not saying that he's dumb, but his karma is instant.

  • Gets cheap boots for hiking. Doesn't break them in. Now he has painful blisters. Complains about it on the hike
  • Eats smelly food before a date. Doesn't believe in breath fresheners. Girl doesn't want to talk to him. Women are horrible to him
  • Driving while tired. Ignores warning about driving while tired. Crashes new Dodge. It's the car's fault
  • Could have had a reliable cheap car. Buys an overpriced used Chrysler. It breaks down. Repair costs are astronomical

In every situation, the inevitable failure and subsequent complaints could have been avoided on multiple occasions simply by listening to his friends. But his way is the better way. And that's why he suffers.
