30k worldwide is pretty limited.
It's way more than 30k. Its been almost a year since someone posted a number 40k plate on here. IM sure they are well over 50k already worldwide. we only see the 30ks here in the US. I've seen 18s that are near 30k on their plates. There was a write up once that said Honda makes 75 Rs a day at the plant. We are at almost the retail 2 1/2 year mark now (went on sale june 19th 2017) we are way over 30k cars world wide. We just dont see plates above 36 k or so here because this forum is 98 percent American and that's the highest plates we see.

CarGurus.com is another site you could check for the nationwide numbers. That's been the popular site for dealers and private parties for quite some time now. You also have to take into account the dealers that aren't listing the Type Rs on any other site other than their own and Honda. The number might actually be higher. I know a dealer that has 2 in stock and doesn't have them listed on either of the mentioned sites.
Yeah those sites don't reflect a true number of new and used sitting. Cars on those site are only there like you said if the dealer posts them there and not all do. I would guess there is more like 600 to 800 Type Rs sitting about if not more. I think I read somewhere Honda has 1100 dealers in the US if most of them have 1 car and some 2 and then you could the used ones sitting on used lots that are not honda dealers. There could actually be a lot more sitting than you think.

A 40k badge number is no where close to what has been seen on this forum. A quick search on CarGurus sorted by newest listing shows the latest delivered CTRs in the 33k badge number range:

2019 Honda Civic Type R Touring FWD - $37,230
Permalink: https://cargur.us/xMkwl

Someone over in the Dealer Nice thread posted their badge number with 32,xxx, that was a week or so ago.

Edited to add permalink

Well seems someone needs to re read my post :). There has for sure been a badge posted here over 40k and was last year. I think they were from australia. and like I said you are searching US inventory where we most likely haven't seen numbers over 30 or so K. But the numbers are world wide sequential. And there has definitely been over 40k badges posted. I have personally seen the number picture. Also that Type R could be from the beginning of 2019 that you are linking too we don't know. Just cause its a new listing does not mean anything. There was a guy here who bought car number 6 new almost a year after release from a dealer with 158 miles on it. These things are all here on this forum in posts if you look.

Edit: I'M looking for that badge pic its here somewhere. But I did find pics of badges in the 20k area from october of 2018. considering it went on sale june 2017 thats a year and and 4 months to hit 20k cars. it's been a year and 2 months since then plus they started selling it in more markets. So a badge number of 40k plus is not unreasonable at this time. But like I said I seen a badge of 40k from I believe australia quite some time ago so im sure its higher then that now.

...and there’s about 300 used Ferrari 488’s listed on CarGurus alone nationwide (sold about the same number of years as the TypeR and at a multiple of what the Type R sells for), not to mention other Ferrari models. So a few hundred more Type R’s is really not much at all. Maybe some people would like to think that the market is flooded with them but it’s just not the case.

A quick search on Google for brand new CTRs for sale in Australia brings back this 2019 in Sydney with badge number 31,xxx:
https://www.peterwarrenhonda.com.au/new-honda-for-sale-warwick-farm/view/2019-Honda-Civic/19661407

The badge numbers on US deliveries are not unique to only US deliveries, it's a global number. If you go and look at brand new CTRs sitting on dealer showroom floors in the UK, they are also ~32,xxx

You can believe what you saw in the past, I'll believe what I can see right now

Yes the are not unique numbered to US. I said that twice..... yes as you said believe what ya want from carguru. A car sale site that represents what a fraction of the car market. Its hardly a reference for fact. Ive seen the badge in posts a real badge not a google search. Ill post it once I find it.

lol get a life. You owned a car for one year and you still obsessively post in this forum like you're some kind of expert.

alvav has it right - supply is relative to demand, idiots talking about # of CTRs available without looking at how many Civic Si or Golf Rs there are available. Or STi's. Or CRVs. Or Mustangs.

Give me a break. The people talking about oversupply are wishing more than anything. Demand still vastly outstrips supply. The bottom is not falling out of the CTR market and looking at other performance cars like STi, it wouldn't at twice the number produced.

Owned it 2 years and 3 months. If your gonna be a jerk at least get your facts right. And you are just trying to start junk. your accusing me of something I wasn't even talking about. So no idea what you are on about. I was simply talking badge numbers.

There are plenty of type R enthusiasts here that don't own or never owned one. I still like the car never stopped. and yes I will most likely own another. Mustangs just fine thanks for asking.

I can make up some things I pulled straight out of my ass if you want.

It'll save everyone else the trouble of doing it.
I know it is irrelevant but my CTR is R-27009. You are the most close number i have ever saw

Badge numbers are not sequential. Actual Type R sale figures up to Q2 of 2019 is 30,310. Projected number of Type R at the end of 2019 in USA is 12500.

Back to topic, I'm looking forward to the 2020 announcement because then I see what cool stuff others might be buying into, but that's about it. I hope those that have passed up on '19 CTRs to wait out for the '20 CTR get rewarded though, it's always a risky gamble.

I do think the fact that Honda hasn't announced anything about the '20 CTR is a little fishy, and possibly points to marketing shenanigans more than anything. However, maybe it's just to avoid taking away from other model line-ups? Especially if it's just a fascia update.

Useless arguments and car forums. Name a more iconic duo.
I don't think they realize that the arguing isn't a good look on all sides.
