Yeah, no need to take your foot off the throttle. It's a CVT...you're not actually shifting anything...just telling a computer to behave differently.

Yup, there's nothing mechanical in the shiftbox. It's all electrical. So the only change happens in the ECU, which has its own safeguards in place to prevent you blowing anything up.

Wont harm anything. Sometimes when passing i shift to L. I have done this for the past year. No problems.
Wait so shifting to L is much faster than S? I thought S give you more rev or rpm so you can run fast and i thought L is for low gear(engine break)

yeah in L, it doesnt do the simulated shifts. At WOT the CVT will try to keep it in the optimum range for torque/hp. Try doing a 0-60 in S, then do it in L. you will see what i am talking about.

Hey guys, I know I'm a little late in this thread but I do have a question. I just got a performance exhaust and I wanted to rev it. While the car is moving forward... I shifted into Neutral then revved the engine... it went to a crazy high rpm very fast (faster than it would when in N and not moving) it also made a crazy load sound. Then I pushed it back to D after the rpms came down. All this while the car is still moving forward.

Can this damage anything? I just want to make the engine rev without stopping traffic lol

Plus; do I need to wait for the rpms to come down so I can put it back in D?

Generally speaking, the transmission's computer won't obey any commands (request) from the shifter that would cause damage. (Not sure if shifting to P has a mechanical action beyond just computer commands.)
