Thanks guys. Below are the steps I took if anyone is interested at trying this.
It takes some patience specially if you do it my way. I don't have a dremel tool. I just used sand paper, cut a small piece and started with the 220 grit. You start with the 220 because that is what will take away all the rash. I just went back and forth by hand. After I saw it was almost gone I then went with the 400 grit. Keep going back and forth till it is all gone. If it is not gone then make sure to stay on 400 or back 220 a little because anything higher will not remove them. Don't worry about scratches because the next step will remove the scratches. You will then go to the 800 grit and finally the 1000 grit and higher if you choose. The 800 and 1000 and above is what will remove the fine scratches made by the lower level grits. Once done I polished area with Mothers Mag & Aluminum Polish. One thing I want to point out is that our rims have a painted coating, so once you are done, on the area that had he curb rash on it, it will appear and show as chrome looking. No way to fix that except to paint it. Well for anyone to notice it on my car, they will have to get real close and really look for it. But if it was more sever then I would have probably purchased VHT Silver Wheel paint. I have not done it yet but I will be buying the VHT clear coat soon and applying it on that area. Do not use touch up paint because it will never look natural. The VHT is a spray paint and your best bet. They have silver and black as well. If you end up trying the spray paint then make sure you spray it on paper or something first to see if it is a close color. One thing for sure, even if not painted, it will look 10 times better than not doing anything at all. Just my opinion.
No I did not remove the wheel. I wasn't doing the whole wheel, just a small section. ChrisFix is great and his youtube channel is where I received all my information from. It's funny that this post came up again. The last step was to put a clear coat on the section I sanded. I forgot to do that. I even totally forgot about this whole situation. I went outside and checked the area again. Still looks good with no issues or clear coat pealing around the area. I do however wash my car regularly an do focus on having my wheels clean. Every 2 weeks or so, I wash my car and also focus on my wheels. I use Adams Eco Wheel Cleaner, clean the wheel and then rinse off and then wash it with Adams Shampoo. Seems to be working for me.
