Is anyone else a bit puzzled why absolutely no news about the 2020 Type R and it's almost mid-November? Most car companies have shown their hands for any 2020 models. Just curious if anyone knows if this is normal from history, or if this is something else?

Barely any 2020 content outside of the maybe yellow and aged stuff out there from months ago.

If you remember there was nothing from Honda on the 2019 either until the day before it went on sale. That was because there was nothing different about it to report just the next model year. Chances are there is nothing really different about the 2020 either other then the little colored thing in the vents so there for nothing to really make a press report about. The regular civic had nothing about the 2020s until just before they went on sale and the Hatch for 202 I actually saw them on dealer lots for sale before Honda even released any info on them. At best we will get the same colored vent pieces and maybe the honda safety stuff they added to the Si and maybe heated seats? But nothing really to spend money on to market it so you won't hear anything till release and then will be from third parties like everything else. If they had make or were going to make any big changes they would have said by now to build hype Im sure. But hell I'm speculating just like anyone else at this point.

SEMA just ended and they used that big week to highlight motorcycles, the new Acura prototype Type S, and a few builds in their media. I suspect they would have used SEMA to highlight changes if they had real news to report.

I've noticed that they also haven't released the 2020 Civic SI details either, but if you look in their feeds they already have Spanish-only Instagram content for that car, so I am guessing they have a media package ready to go very soon.

that is sort of what I was saying. they haven't said anything about the 2020 Si and it is already for sale. Honda dosent say much about cars they dont make changes to really. they just release them and then third party info comes out. Honda might say something after the fact.

Some dealers are able to see the 2020 model in their system. The ones I've spoken to indicated all that is changing is addition of Honda Sense, bumper and front fascia changes, wing delete, and a new Yellow color.

Even though that's all been rumored, I think wing delete and yellow color would actually be a pretty big deal.

So yesterday Honda started posting SI content on English language targeted Instagram. So I wouldn't be surprised to see something soon.

But there are nearly 600 2019's on lots right now, sitting on summer tires as winter approaches. I can't imagine there is any upside to getting consumers excited about 2020 too early because they have plenty of inventory to move.

I'm inclined to agree. If they were going to release really big news in regards to updating the FK8, they would have done it at a time where people could see it. Either which way, I still got some time before I can even look at the car realistically :)

Well maybe if they would punish dealers for the markups then these cars would move faster.
