Title says it all...

Background info though - I have an Essential Phone and a '19 Sport Touring. And it happens every. Single. Time. I. Drive.

Anyone else?

Yes! I have a plain non-smart phone. I can pair the phone and use it as expected, but I always have to redo the pairing later. I was assuming that I just had to buy a better phone. My Civic has the "Driver Information Interface".

UPDATE, December 2022: Six months ago I finally got a smart phone, and I have not had any more trouble with losing pairing. By "pairing", I just mean that the phone is recognized for hands free calls. I have never used Android Auto.

Try using a different usb cable. Our cars are very picky about cables

I got my 2020 today. I had to go get a high quality belkin cable from best buy. Fixed my issue. I almost thought my car was broke because it wouldnt stay connected

Were you using the OEM phone cable? That should be the best choice.

OEM cables don't always work either, but they're always my go to if you still have it. I've had the issue with Samsung cables. Although, I've been using an insignia cable I got from best buy for like 7 dollars and have only had the issue once or twice. They're really high quality for how cheap they are. I don't think they sell 'em anymore though. I bought a new one that's dynex but they're the same thing just a different name.

Aukey braided cables work well. Worked with my LG G5, Samsung S9+, and now Pixel 4 XL. However there is also Head Unit Reloaded if you want to do wireless AA.

I donated $5 and while it connects, it also disconnects or crashes. At least it did on my S9+. Haven't tried it on my Pixel.

No i my problems came from a cheap walmart cable. Unfortunately i lost my oem cable. The belkin cable is performing perfectly in its place, though!

I've tried both aukey and anker braided cables and they were the worst performing out of them all in terms of the disconnects. I usually like their cables too. I really think it's just head unit dependent.

Looks like I'll have to go pick up a Belkin cable. I have an Anker cable but it's a bit seasoned... probably at least a year and a half of usage. I swapped the head unit in my previous car to a nice sony touchscreen (I had a sport hatch, so that piece of junk tiny screen bs needed to go) and never really had an issue. Only had this car two months and it's happened right from the start - I swapped the cable when I traded the old one in.

Same thing happens with the gf's new-to-her 2016 EX-L, but she has some cheap cable in there so I chalked it up to that. It's especially obnoxious in hers though as it beeps nonstop for anywhere from 5 to like 20 seconds after "disconnecting" so hopefully the cable swap solves our issues.

I was under the impression Anker has some of the highest quality cables you can buy, but I guess we will try Belkin!

have a Samsung galaxy s8+, and my wife has a LG H872. I have a 2016 Honda Civic Ex-t coupe that has android auto and I've owned the car since day one. The new android auto menu comes up fine and stays on, however as soon as I press one of the apps, (doesn't matter which one) I get a message device disconnected. I have changed cables and had the ports replaced, still getting the same problem. Now for the weird part, tried my phone in my wife's 2019 Honda HRV and android auto worked fine could use all the functions. Took her phone into my car, with my cable and her phone worked perfectly with my android auto, no problems whatsoever. Switched over to my phone and got the same problem as before. I have uninstalled and reinstalled android auto numerous times, same problem. I have deleted and reinstalled the phone on the car more than once. I have rebooted the system in the car twice. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!! Someone at the android forum suggested it is because I have android os9 on the galaxy and the wife has android os8. The software version on the infotainment system is if.186.67. Is there a an update that anyone knows about that could fix this problem. I'm pretty sure the wife doesn't want to switch phones with me.

Pretty simple, since you know it’s the phone’s problem look up a video on YouTube how to install a custom rom on s8+ and choose one from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/samsung-galaxy-s8--s8-cross-device-development
