That’s an oil change, brake fluid flush, brake service and general inspection.
WAG... $300+

Thank you.

Dealership doesn't open until Monday and want to try and get the car booked in, just seeing how much damage my wallet is going to take.

Do you know what the Brake service comprises off? A couple of years ago I took my previous car for a scheduled brakes service and couldn't tell by looking at them if they had even opened them up.

A visual inspection of components along with slider lubrication and rust removal so pads move freely.
You know, the kind of thing that would take 15 minutes a corner on the street in front of your house... you know, like I do.

don't worry about the brake service,

not necessary on a 2 year old car,

get your oil and filter changed and call it a day,

a lot of these services are a money grab,

i mean, who rotates their tires after 5,000 miles?
I see what you mean. But with the car indicating the servicing, shouldn't I get that done? They tried to get me to do a brake service on my 2nd oil change and I said no because the car is only indicating an oil change and they took it off the invoice without asking.

Agree but also disagree... depends on where you live and on how long you are going to keep it.
Lessees could give a rat’s ass because they won’t be driving it more than a couple of years.
Long term owners will care about this sort of maintenance because caliper replacement is kinda expensive.
Slider and pad service is to prevent caliper seizing several years down the road.

meh,

i had a 2004 civic for 14 years, greased the pins once in its lifetime, never had any issues,

greasing them after 2 or 3 years is not needed

As mentioned previously, depends on where you live.
In salt laden Southern Ontario it was an issue for my son’s ‘07 Forester this year.
It needed all four calipers replaced this year since three were seized, on top of discs and pads.
YMMV.

My dealer: $49.50 Oil & Filter
Brake Flush: $79.50
Service Brakes and Visual inspections?? I had my local garage do it for under $100

The Oil Change #1 and Service brakes # 9 is necessary (calipers can seize up due to our winter conditions with salt and sand use). Change and flush brakes fluid and only 2 years is unnecessary according to my Class A mechanic. Like I stated before I have a friend that has a 4 1/2 yr old HRV, 100K km on it and he has never had this code#7 displayed. I think Head Office is giving the dealerships a perk in servicing. Your manual says that is the coded (#7) doesn't come on change and flush brake fluid every 3 years, so why does it come on in 2 yrs as it did on mine with 25K on it?? Just wondering! Oh, by the way, guess what they do when they take apart the calipers and put them back together again????

BS

only greased the pins one time in 14 years of my last civic, never had an issue,

i live where there is heavy snow in winter

the brake service is nonsense

grease the pins when the pads need to be replaced
While I had the rear brakes seize in a previous vehicle because I never had this service done. My vehicle before that had this service scheduled ever 2 years and they never seized-up on that vehicle. So I guess you take your chance, a little now or a lot down the road. We all have our priorities so by saying its BS you are not giving any other person a say in this forum. Let us all make up our own minds on what we do about our own vehicles. I only post my own personal experiences on my 50 + years of owning a vehicle. You don't have to follow it, do you? Have a great day.
