Prepped the car for a potential sale and put back the wing on the back. But the treasurer in the house vetoed the idea (car sale) so it'll stick around for a few more years. Car is tuned but it's now 40-lbs heavier (the wing!) so I'm going on a diet starting today. ;)

I've never driven the car faster than 10 MPH with the wing on since day two of ownership, it'll be a whole new experience when I take her out for a proper drive tomorrow. Can't wait!

You should've ordered a front or rear OEM emblem and used that.
Those are WAY too big for my tastes. I just wanted something small and understated.

I'm trying to hold out as long as I can. Maybe I'll swap in another week or two but the forecast now shows lows dipping into freezing daily here, and possibly snow this coming Friday on the 8th.

:dunno: I just hate the squirmy feeling winter tires have.
Just getting to changing to my winter tires, probably Wednesday. Temp was down to about 32⁰ this a.m., so took the car out of its shelter to let it sit in the rising sun to warm up for a couple of hours before driving. I have a Harbor Freight 10 x 17 temporary storage building, which fit my Si well, and for the CTR has just a little less space around the edges. This will be my fourth winter with it, probably because I gave it a good pressure-treated lumber foundation and cross-braced it. Also, twice a year I reinforce any points of wear on the cover with Gorilla Tape. It probably will need a new cover next year, which means buying a whole new building as you can’t buy just a cover, but 4 years of protection for $170 is hard to beat.

Last night I prepped my Pirelli Sottozero3s which are mounted on a set of used OEM wheels by checking the pressures and giving the tires a coat of gel, and the wheels an extra coat of Adams ceramic boost. I was interested in the description of winter tires, though of a different brand, as feeling ‘squirmy’, exactly how I would describe it. A completely different and less comfortable feel than from the OEM tires, probably a combination of the harder winter compound and more aggressive tread. They do work well in ice and snow, although last winter was mostly mild. If that trend continues when the Pirellis need replacement, I may consider a less expensive all-season tire for the winter and probably will stay with a new set of the OEM tires for summer.

I would be reluctant to give up the Continentals if it meant losing any of that competent CTR feel. When will I have to decide? This the end of my first year, and I don’t drive the CTR that many miles a year, about 8000, about 3500 in winter and 4500 in the summer. I would describe my daily driving, which is all I do, as sometimes spirited but not radical, about 80% around town and in the country and 20% on the Interstates. I did a tread depth check on both sets of tires this morning. The Pirellis showed about 20% worn in the rear and about 30% in the front. With seasonal rotation I probably have about another three seasons on them. The Continentals are at about 35% worn on the rear and 55% on the front. With rotation they will be close to the wear strips at the end of next summer and due for replacement the next spring. Then it will be can I get by with two for starters, or just go for the whole thing at once.

Installed the road kill fast rings https://www.amazon.com/Road-Kill-RK...=1572875838&sprefix=fast+rings,aps,203&sr=8-4

This was one step I omitted when I upgraded the speakers in my car (center channel, tweeters, front door components, sub).
Of all the things I changed out for my audio, these $20 foam pieces made the most noticeable improvement. :(

Would highly recommend putting these in for those that may have thought (like I did) that they aren't needed

More winter prep.
Upgraded to AGM battery and +1 on size from H5 to H6. Snug but it fits if you remove the insulation. More CCA!

Drove it for the first time with the wing on the car. Wow, it even felt different (more agile) going in reverse. Car is more planted and balanced on the street. Felt like driving a different car (in a good way). As ricey as the wing looks, it really belongs on the car. Without it, it just throws off the car's balance, even on public street speed limits. Try it if you don't believe me :)

On a serious note it’s good to see someone feel like it’s useful on the street. Haha. I’ve read quite a few times on here that 66lbs at the 120MPH isn’t effective enough.

There is nothing 'ricey' about this car, i.e., things done for image, appearance or sound, or whatever, that do not truly contribute to performance, e.g., fart cans , non-engineered wings, spoilers, wheels, tires, trim, fairings, decals, weird paint jobs, etc. No pretending, this is the real thing, designed and engineered to be what it is. You pay for that when you buy it, when you maintain and drive it, and you are getting what you pay for, why substantially change it?
