I'm applying for a new job where I'd also have the same commute - I can't move right now. I need a new car and the Civic is high on my list (2017 Accord Hybrid is the other one I'm considering, but it is a much higher cost and not sure it's worth it for the extra mileage/range, especially if you're getting 47(!)mpg in the Civic).

How are you surviving the commute/finding the Civic to handle the commute?
Not easy. I have been doing it for 8 years. You get used to it. The Civic is fun to drive with all the gadgets and stuff to keep me occupied. LOL

On Econ mode I average 37.1 mpg and on regular mode 38.2 mpg I drive 140 mile round trip m-f, all highway miles, speed between 70 and 80 mph and Fill up twice a week. Civic coup ex-l, I'm not impressed with econ mode I think it's a gimmick. IMHO
I use ECON mode all the time. I drive 250 a day M-F and AVG 44MPG since I got it in March. I also go between 70-75MPH so I don't know why you are only getting 38.

Right there with you at 170 everyday. Honestly, the cars features and mpg makes it a hell of a lot more bearable. Many downplay the sensing package but it makes my drive a cake walk.
That's what I love about it. its kind of fun to see how it handles the curves on the HWY with hands free.

I have it in econ mode the little green leaf is illuminated on the instrument panel, and my average fuel indicates 37.1 mpg... is yours the 1.5t?

Not sure why I'm averaging 37.1 but I've driven 3 days in a row and I've averaged 37.1 / 37.2 while in econ mode, I'm also using cruise control the whole time so maybe cruise is sucking more gas???

There is a huge difference in City vs Highway driving on these cars (atleast my 1.5T). If I'm doing my normal 15%city/85%HWY driving, I get 39-40mpg. If I get the week off tho, and I'm just doing normal city driving, that's more like 33-34mpg. I think this car uses as much gas at idle as it does at 70mph. Once that turbo starts boosting tho... My WRX is the same way. I can get 30mpg out of that thing staying out of the boost. On the other hand, I can get like 8mpg driving it on the track haha.

I believe you on the City MPG. I'm glad 90% of my driving is on the HWY.

Cruise usually helps your MPG. It does mine.

Well all you people are very lucky. I have not been able to break 30 mpg. Living on the side of a mountain is not good for gas milage.

2016 Civic WOP 1.5 liter Turbo Coupe - 5.6 km / 100 km, which equals about 42 mpg (I think). That's going to work today; 10 minutes in the city, 25 minutes on the highway, 5 more minutes city, there and back - Air Conditioning on, Econ on, stereo CRANKED! Bested last weeks 6.1 km / 100 km (39 mpg).

Shouldn't it all average out? Going up…not so good / Going down…REALLY good?

Unfortunately it doesnt seem as such. Apparently it eats more gas going up than it saves going down.

Oh well, I still like the car.
