Maybe I'm misunderstanding you here, but are you saying there's some kind of weight sensor that needs to be activated before the car will start? Because I definitely started my SI last night while standing outside the door (cleaning out trash).
You were able to push in the clutch, brake, and starter button all while standing outside the door?

No, the key fob has to be near a receiver inside the car. No weight sensors that I know of

You just need to push the clutch, not the brake

So if you’re just standing anywhere near your car, filling the tank, checking something on the car, or just standing there shooting the shit with someone, anyone can sneak up and jump in the car and drive away!
That's not possible. None of these kids can drive stick.

Just the clutch and start button are all that's needed. I clutched in, my wife pressed the button from the passenger seat.

The dealership I got my car from said "half our salesmen can't drive stick". While looking for my car the only manuals I could find were SI's. It's a shame really.

I still reach for the phantom Parking/Emergency brake, however in my defense my other car still has one.

This puts the keyfob pretty damn close to inside the car if it was in your pocket. I think we need a controlled experiment where the keyfob is in the vicinity of the gas cap and try starting it then. I'm not convinced it will allow the car to start with it that far away from the proximity sensor in the vehicle.

Oh wow.. okay, thanks for all that info! So the key less thing is way more sophisticated than I thought. Alright.. conceding techno wizardry FTW there! I guess I should have tested it before making such presumptions.

The AC thing is a mystery and was particularly odd when none of the 6 Honda dealerships near me could give a definitive answer on it. They didn't know for sure under what circumstances it came on nor did any of them know if there was a way to turn this "feature" off. The most given answer was that it was probably an extreme temperature over ride and this is probably true since I haven't had it do it since our temps stopped hitting extremes. But call me odd but sometime I like subjecting myself to extremes and to me, usually, getting into a super hot car feels good. Hey car! Stop ruining my free sauna!

I had set the keyfob under the console. My comment was just regarding a previous comment regarding what I thought someone was calling a weight sensor. I wasn't talking about keyfob distance or anything like that.

My nephew is a mechanic at Subaru. He can't test drive many of the cars he fixes. He wants my son to teach him to drive stick.

I like air conditioning and extra features like brake hold as well... I just don't like the car turning these things on all by itself when I explicitly have them set to "OFF". Yeah, I know the AC will come on using defrost or the auto zone control.. but it comes on without using these features also.

I'm glad to hear about the car not starting.. must be weight sensors in the seats.. makes sense since they're on the passenger side to turn on the airbag too.

I love finesse driving.. using my slow roll is always part of that. I won't miss a chance to predict the light and have a slow roll going forward already in the works and the brake hold keeps throwing a wrench into things There are many other situations of course as well that you just want to roll. I still haven't figured out when and why it decides to use it.. so far i haven't seen any common denominator. But I always leave it off and the point is that sometimes the car employs it anyway.
Brake hold only turns on when you turn it on it's not automatic...

I'm 81 (next week) with a '19 EX Coupe. I appreciate most of the goodies, although I confess to using some of them so seldom I forget about them. My complaint is that Honda has done such a poor job of identifying and explaining all the gadgets. This thread is a perfect example.
Of course, we could just read the manual. Yeah, bet me! I have one and there's no way. It's 700+ pages; like reading War & Peace plus Tolkien's trilogy. I'm one of those people who reads an instruction and, if i don't make use of it right now, it's gone. There's gotta be a better way to present this info to the buyer.
I would love to have a working knowledge as to how to use the radio head unit for diagnostics.

Pretty sure its distance, not a weight sensor for the car start. I lover the features - and at 64, I am not exactly a Millennial.
The fact that I can't lock the keys in the car or trunk is a plus. The start button is cool, but I will say I have once or twice started to walk
away without turning off the car ( was letting the turbo spool down first and forgot) and the car will let you know. The seats are manual -
which I prefer to power seats that eventually break - and the only 'feature' I would swap for old school is the e-brake. It sounds cool engaging or disengaging,
but not having a hand brake sucks. Yes it allows for more center console room, that is the only good trade-off.
The fact you get to row your own gears is the best part. Power windows? No, I don't miss cranks, grew up with them. The only 'crank' in the car now is me.
