Carvana's offer to me in June at 3,000 miles on my 2019 was $35.2K. Carvana's offer to me this week at 6,500 miles on my 2019 was $31.4K. Take that for what you will. My opinion is that the market is being relatively flooded.
Oct to Feb are the worst months to sell a car (hint: good time to buy). Just wait 'til next May-Aug, used prices will pickup again. Meanwhile, enjoy driving it.

I am not really interested in selling. I just like checking in on perceived value from time to time. I am loving the heck out of this car and can't imagine giving it up any time soon.

Yes but not for very long. Once dealers drop to MSRP they sell almost immediately.

I can't see why they would drop your price by $4k just because you have 3,500 miles more on the car. I'd imagine that's a fluke since 2020 will be a half-year and then they won't be making them anymore.

I live in the orlando area and since buying mine in late July of 19 haven't seen a single one on the road anywhere.....there must be a few around here.
I could actively look for a group but where's the random fun in that?
Just surprised that there aren't more. I have seen a few Pearl Grey Civics, but no Type Rs.
Everyone's already sold theirs LOL. No joking. There were Rs everywhere where I lived, 9 in total I knew 7 of the people. Everyone here has sold theirs myself included. Now you don't see any. Look at all the used ones on line and the people who have listed thiers in the classifieds on this forum. This is a high turnover car.

Yeah good old North Carolina. I live here too and couldn't get a dealer in NC 17 in total I went too, to give me more then 29 to 30k for mine. I had to go out of state to get 31k. 31k is about right for one used trade in. Had same issue when buying here every NC dealer I went too acted like they didn't even want to sell the car. Had crazy mark ups or some other bull. Again had to go out of state and was done deal in a few mins.

Last I read factory was closing in 2021 march ish time frame. I think 2020 will be full year and 2021 will most likely be a special edition limited final run. Like a black edition or something. I think thats what Honda calls its special runs?

It’s not the car, it’s FWD. I owned a Focus ST in the early years. It was probably the best Ford I ever owned as unlike the Mustangs I’ve owned it wasn’t a lemon. It had better steering than my M2, smooth 6-speed, and great midrange torque. Despite the car really doing nothing to offend me I just had to cut bait after a year and move into a Golf R as it’s hard to explain but if you have driven RWD and AWD cars most of your life FWD just isn’t as satisfying no matter how much chassis trickery is involved. This doesn’t mean that Type R owners that love their car should think less of them as it’s a great car. It’s just not for everybody like a lot of cars for various reasons.

Most likely a hardcore Phoenix Yellow version in 2021 with limited 2021 units allocated to the US and ADM will be thru the roof.

Yeah I mean if all the various stuff we read is correct. We haven't seen a 2020 yet and it's november now. November is about when they start. So if everything is true and plant closes first quarter 2021. That means what 3 maybe 4 months of 2021 production? Ill bet will be some limited color and limited spec as a special model run with , like you said, ADM through the roof. Then once they have full production up and running here of the new plant we might see a new R in 2022 or 2023 with a redesign. If they bring it back at all here. Hondas fairly consistent with limited years of their performance cars of killing them off after a few years. Integra, s2000, now maybe the R as well. A quick google search will show honda has stopped making the R several times during its history. IM hoping this won't be the last or at least they bring it back for 11th gen.

You are speculating of course. I don't think there will be a 2021 version. And I still believe the limited run in 2020. Of all the TypeRs that have sold in the US, this year was the least number of sold by a long shot.

As far as people selling their cars after one year of usage, I don't know what to say about that. There are other options out there, but it's not like you don't see those cars on used car web pages. I would say just as many people sell their STIs, Golf Rs, Ford Focus GTs, etc..

Well technically everything on the planet is speculation and opinion till it happens. Mine is no more factual than yours :) Im simply formulating an opinion based off of industry, media and a few insider comments I have read. One of which was the head of Honda North America. In an interview when asked about the future of the type R all he said was they would produce it till the plant closed and that future production was o back burner as their focus was to get North American production up and running for the regular civic line (which is their meat and potatoes) before the R is considered. Ill try to find the interview and link it.

As for traded cars. Like you said it is a limited run and there were fewer produced this year. So the high amount of trade ins after 1 or 2 years is just that high, when compared to production numbers. Yes any and all cars have short term trade in and what not but when compared to the number produced of those cars compared to the type R. Then yes the number of trade ins on the R are rather high. For a car that only made a few thousand this year to see 500 plus sitting on lots and websites is rather high.

I personally agree with some in the media that it is a great car no doubt but the price is to high for what it is. And then if they add honda sensing this year liek the Si and then the usual price hike your gonna be looking at a 40k car and then what depending on terms and state you live in a 45k car out the door if no dealer mark ups. I simply thing Honda has priced it to high and many are realising wow its a great fun car but not worth it in the long run and trade it in. Again like everything else on this site just my opinion.

One reason I believe is the manual. I love manuals and it has one of the best. but in today's world most places are getting so crowded. where I live we went from 75k people living here in 15 years ago to they just said by mid next year we will have 500k people living here. The roads are so congested that a manual has become a burden more than fun. Until I can move somewhere with more open roads, as I am a 1 car person every car I have is my daily, I just had to once in my life say no to a manual and trade it in. I have read were others have traded for the same reason. It's just one of many. It is an amazing car but the world its a changing. faster better autos and electric with no transmission. I feel the R is one of the last huras left in a few more years we wont see cars like this or at least in this form.

I'm in the Washington, DC area and so far there's only been one grey CTR for sale at a ridiculous price (~$48,000). I bought mine through Carvana. They have a bunch for sale with super low mileage and reasonable pricing. I recommend them.
