2018 HB here, and haven't hard it for a year yet... there is already moisture in the tail lights.
What the crap is this?
Unfortunately, your hatch was built at a plant in Swindon, England and the quality control there is pretty low. Thankfully Honda is closing that plant and moving hatch production elsewhere.

I totaled my old car and didn’t have enough saved up for something spectacular. It came down to a civic or a corolla and the civic was more fun. Hopefully it’s as reliable given that I know a rolla would get 300k with just oil changes

My 2018 Hatchback Sport, also made in Swindon, England, has had no issues whatsoever quality-wise. The only possible exception would be the material used in the arm rests and console top. To me, that was a poor design issue. My previous car, a 2003 Civic Si, was also made in Swindon, had no issues whatsoever, and is still running well with over 200K miles. Just take it to the dealer and get it repaired under warrantee.

It was easy to say and rolls off the tongue.
It makes people happy and uhm.... I grew up knowing its luxury counter-part "Acura" - working on Acura(s) + being a former S2k Owner... Honda, is the pioneer of great 4 cylinder cars!
Easy to work with and abundant in parts, fun factor + reliability, so most cost effective :)

I drive over 100 miles round trip to work and back every day, almost 30K miles per year. My previous car was a 2014 BMW 428i which I absolutely loved, but it hit 100K miles, and is very expensive to maintain, so I decided I needed something I would love but was more practical and reliable long term. The Civic (I bought a 2019 Sport Touring Hatch brand new) checked all the boxes for me. I love the way it looks, it had all the features and tech I wanted (several items the BMW didn't have), and it's comfortable and fun to drive. Even more important, it's far less expensive to maintain, and based on the odds, it should last many years without expensive repair, barring any crazy stuff happening (knock on wood). I plan on driving it for years after it's paid off. Does it have the raw power that the BMW had? No, of course not, and I knew that going in. But it's sassy enough for me and I really enjoy it.

The car before the BMW was a Scion FR-S, which was amazingly fun to drive (and almost got me into trouble more than once), but was just too small to be really practical. :)

I got my hands on a 2009 because I needed a cheap commuter shitbox. Ten years and 200k miles later, I got a 2019 and did not realize that the base model came with a ton of options. It feels like I'm riding in luxury these days. lol

I recently bought a Civic for a lot of reasons, but the cool thing is now that I have it, it's honestly even better than I expected. I wanted a car that would give me good-to-great gas mileage, (a commuter car is necessary in my case), a comfortable ride and a car that ideally I'll keep for a long time. I know Honda's and the Civic are known for longevity, and that was exactly what I wanted. Lastly, I plan to keep the car mechanically stock for a while, but I love the thought of doing upgrades at some point in the future.

I fell in love with the new look when the 10 gen version came out, especially the hatchbacks rear end. When my kids moved out and we didn't need a family van (Honda Odyssey) anymore so my hubby took me for a surprise car shopping day. I really really wanted a Type R, but it wasn't practical to our budget and needs. So I opted for the only white one they had left, the EX model. Hind sight, wish I did the touring version, but the Ex does just fine.

My wife got a new job where she would drive a ton more, like 25k a year, and her 6 cylinder Outback got maybe 21mpg so it needed to go. I wanted something sporty with a manual transmission and the only choices were Ford, Subaru, VW or this. As a Honda enthusiast it was the natural choice but I considered them all. Wanted the Subie but the mileage is awful. Won’t buy a VW, too many horror stories, and have heard of too many issues with the turbo Fords so... The Si was the best answer for a lot of reasons. Love the car more now than when I bought it 8 months ago.
Driving stick in Chicago, i respect that dude. I can’t stand driving anything there when I have to go there for work.

I’ll also give credit too driving stick in a city isn’t fun in a car but do it in a 20’ box truck with a 5 speed in New York City with air brakes full load that isn’t fun either

That’s why I don’t plan on ever getting a CDL
