Have to say sorry but brake hold is currently the feature I hate the most. The reason is, Honda puts the button at the location where I always put my right hand onto. I started driving with manual transmission from 18 and my right hand is always on the shift stick ever since. I've accidentally triggered this feature so many times. It's a sign of danger to me if there is any moment my body maneuver doesn't get the correct interaction from the car. This unwanted brake hold gives me the exact dangerous feeling in the driver seat. I wouldn't have hated this feature so much if Honda designed the button at somewhere else. I'm thinking how to put a metal sheet on top of the button to prevent myself from activate it with my palm.
Keeping your right hand on the shifter is such a bad habit to keep.

Yeah~ Hoping AI can evolve soon enough so one day I don't need to put any hand on steering wheel, shifter or even arm rest.

Definitely true for a manual transmission, not sure if it's that bad in an automatic. But then again, isn't the point of an auto that you shift it into Drive and don't touch it again until it you go back into Park?

I think I’ve only used it under like, two conditions. Waiting at a railroad crossing, or waiting in an abnormally slow drive-thru

Whenever I get in my si I put it in sport, turn traction off, put my seat belt on, plug my phone in, choose a song, and then hit the brake hold button. Parking brake off, put er in first and zooooooooooom.

I still haven't gotten my Civic (counting the days now, It's already been shipped from the UK and is on its way to Slovenia), but all the work cars I drive daily have break hold and it's a godsend! I have it always on and it makes life so much easier. The roads I mostly drive always have up and down parts so if you're standing still and not pumping your brakes you'll be moving. So I personally use it all the time.

That being said I do always notice that some of my co-workers turn this off the moment they sit into the car, but I don't know why.

Never use Brakehold .... can drive perfectly well without it -- so never have had the need to mess with it.

I use brake hold all the time. It's one of the features I loved since day one.

rarely. Basically only in extreme bumper to bumper traffic or drive thru lines that take forever. otherwise it's worthless.

Brake hold doesn’t have anything to do with “need”, it’s simply another convenience. I thought it was a rather useless feature as well until I started using it. Now it’s become a matter of course whenever I start the car; plug in my phone - punch the brake hold button and go. It’s just a nice thing to not have to keep my foot on the brake at every stoplight. (and I have the CVT, so it has nothing to do with being a clutch crutch)

Is it the greatest thing since sliced bread? - probably not, but what the hell - every little convenience helps, right? Would I have gotten it as an option? Likely not, as I stated before, I didn’t think much about it at first - wasn’t even sure what it did. But hey, it’s part of the car. I paid for it. I’m using the thing. And I have actually come to appreciate its function now - so much so that whenever I drive my older Honda (which doesn’t have the feature), it pisses me off just a little. :D

These two posts summarize exactly how I feel about it currently, so I don't have to write my own composition. (I haven't used it until now, but I might just as well start using it at any time.)

You turn it off manually? I just start going and it disengages automatically. Brake hold is nice where i never had to touch the parking brake in my Si.
