Hey guys, just picked up my new si sedan last week and have been going through the forums to get some information on the best intake. I’m pretty sold on the PRL cold air intake but just wanted some feedback from guys that are using them. I know they show real gains but has anyone experienced any water getting in the intake?

I apologize if this question has already been asked.

The prl cobra cai was the first upgrade I got for this car. The sound is incredible and that alone is enough to make me want it regardless of power gains. I live in Virginia and will have the occasional downpour and torrential rain and so far no issues. Avoid going through deep standing water and your good.

Good enough for me. Now I need to learn how to pace myself on modifications moving forward lol. Thanks for the help.

Are you really getting any gains? I am not so sure... The stock setup is really effective ... Some complain of loosing low end torque.

Go with the cobra! I can honestly say I haven’t regretted a second of it. Install is pretty simple whether you are a beginner or have been going at it for years. My only two tips would be A) get the official install steps from PRL. I believe are in this forum just search. B) no matter what steps you follow, let step #1 be to put the car on stands and take the plate off underneath lol. I have big hands and this saved me so much time and frustration!

I'd love to get a CAI but recently I went through a flash flood. Sitting at a light and waves of water came through. It was up to the top of the door sill. This kind of thing is rare but it's enough to scare me away from a CAI.

Ok here my real life situation with this PRL Cai dont be misled by all these people praising it like it does magic....you only hear the sound when you give it hard gas for about 4 seconds and release...as for power gain you not feel any difference.....
You mean the turbo actually has to spool??:hmm:

Just get the Stg1 intake tube and a drop in washable filters. Used they are the best bang for the buck. Also get ktuner and the TSP Stg1 map. Most of us prefer the v1.2 since any android device or the headunit can run the tunerview or tunerviewlite software. But it you want a standalone display there is the v2 option.

I have been enjoying my torque solutions blow off plate for about 200 miles. For $56 I get no gains but a big smile every time. It shoots off a fun blast of air. It's got to be way louder than PRL. I drove very conservative for several days to monitor. No stumble no backfires no error lights. I hear it's a crap shoot ... Some cars do not respond well. Still looking for A reason to remove it ... Found none.

Very late reply but just went through my car on a routine LOF service. Had the 17 si up on the lift so I decided to check on my cobra air filter. After removing I found traces of water inside the bottom portion of my piping. Not a concerning amount but a good reminder to be cautious of driving through heavy rain. This was WITH a hydro shield over the filter mind you(made by Injen). I went up top before the MAF and blew it out with compressed air and no problems. Just a reminder to keep an eye on it every once in a while.

Any other benefits of v2?

I went with the PRL Short Ram up here in Canada for various reasons. As far as heatsoak goes, it's about the same as stock. I usually see 15-20 degrees above ambient on cooler days. Obviously on hotter days it's much more but I try to avoid hard pulls on those warm days anyways.

I noticed it pull a bit more up top but I'm also tuned with TSP stage 1. Plus it makes all the noises for an eargasm.

Don't have one, but I think I've seen people post about being able to record logs with out a laptop plugged into it. I suppose they're data dumping afterwards. That's pretty handy if that's the case
