So Ktuner V1.2 just arrived at my door, but like always I’m having second thoughts before getting rid of the stock ecu forever (I know Honda can tell even after reverting to stock).

The only thing that’s holding me back is the loss of my warranty. I have a year left and I really don’t think anything will go wrong as I just want to get rid of rev hang since it’s horrendous on this car. However, I do take the car to the dealer for maintenance check ups. I’m don’t want them to give me problems if there is basic warranty work involved (my Si is still stock though).

I know my car will be fine as I am very conservative with my Si... but I guess I just need some final assurance before I give in.

Don't fear this. Remember they have to prove you flashing your ECU was the reason there was a failure.

False statement, Honda cannot tell if you've been flashed or not, just make sure to not bring your car to the dealer with your tune loaded and your Ktuner sticker on your window, all the rest you've heard is FUD. With that said do it!

Here's what I tell people who are worried about warranty...

#1. For the most part I believe tuning is safe as long as you don't abuse your car.

# 2. Unless you're taking the car in for a drivetrain problem, you have no worries about your warranty.

And this is the important one...

#3. Tuning will transform your car and will literally put an ear to ear grin on your face. Why wait?

I'm personally playing it safe and waiting until my warranty goes out, I was one click away from ordering it but I had second thoughts and just played it safe. Do whatever makes you happy, just my two cents :)

As long as you're content with your car's power, that's a good choice. I'm currently in the process of getting together a CivicX reliability database and so far things look very positive in terms of tune safety. One guy here has been tuned for 80,000 miles with no issues.

Is rev hang REALLY bothering everyone so much? I'd say it's barely noticeable. Especially not as noticeable as the speed of the revs dropping from the flywheel (which still isn't really bad)

I ended up flashing my car and it feels like the car should have came like this from the factory. I hated waiting so long for revs to drop but now it’s completely seamless. Complete different driving experience it’s totally worth it

Our cars have black box.. they’ll know everything. If something actually Does go wrong with your engine they will know. They’ll know how much PSI you hit and of it isn’t factory, you’re f’d. Driver B is a victim of it. Took it in and he found out our cars have black box.

All u gotta do is release the clutch pedal slightly and it forces the revs down. It’ll be a little jerky but it can be done smoothly and quickly with practice.
There is a sweet spot. You just cant really feel it. Has to become a muscle memory thing.

There's been a lot of speculation on what exactly Honda can and cannot see with their proprietary software. We know that an overrev generates a burn-in code. Not sure what else gets stored there.

Do you know what they were able to see, and whether the car was flashed back to stock prior to diagnosis?

Honda can't but if they decide to get the ECU company involved they can deep dive. There was a thread a year or 2 back that talked about this when a guy blew his motor on a tune.
