Hey Everyone,

I just wanted to see if anyone has had experience with their fog lights shattering / getting damaged? I noticed this morning that one of my fog lights weren't working, and upon further inspection it looks shattered. Most likely a small rock hit it when I was driving on the highway. It must have been a rock since you can see the point of impact. I'm at work right now, so I don't have any pictures, but I'll try to snap some later.

Has anyone replaced their fog lights? It appears that I'll have to go to the dealer to get this replaced. Hoping it'll be less than $200 :(

Good thing is, the part @1WickedCivic linked to is pretty affordable. Now the question is - would you have to remove your bumper to get to it?

The part/assembly is around $40 & should be an easy swap out - here's the link the parts http://www.collegehillshondaparts.c...ctrical-exhaust-heater-fuel-cat/foglight-scat

@snbns - That's funny, as I was washing my car a couple weekends ago, I noticed I too had a cracked drivers side fog light. I have no idea when this happened but fortunately it still works, and is not terribly noticeable. Thank you @1WickedCivic for finding that part, but @timothyjay you're right, I'm not exactly sure how to get at it to replace. Might get a quote from the dealership next time I'm there and have them do it if it's not too expensive.

for what it's worth, I went through several fog lights on my Scion tC before I bought some 3 mil transparent yellow vinyl from Amazon and covered the new lights. after applying the thin coat of vinyl as a cushion I didn't have another problem.. https://amzn.com/B0115ZW1Z0

I had a cracked left fog light. In Canada the windshield fluid reservoir is located on that side making it difficult to get access to remove the trim/housing.

As quoted above the part is cheap.

After messing around in there a bit I realized it wasn't just a simple fix.

I took it to the dealer and they charged me an hour labour but they did have to take the bumper off.

Maybe you will have better luck depending on which side/access the crack is on.

Btw I bought a strip of laminx afterwards and cut out covers for the fog lights. Took 5 minutes to cut and install. Hopefully will offer some protection.

Reviving this post

Winter in Canada sucks for fog lights. 2018 Civic Hatch
Shattered both my fog lights, and cracked windshield with other impacts (need a replacement windshield)

Got quoted $95 part (each) and $139 labour before taxes
Rock Auto has a similar assembly for a $37/part

A design concession for cost was made for the fog lights on our Hondas. The fog is a flat-front lens, as opposed to an angled one. This means all rock hits are directly transferring force perpendicular in full to the lens. Compared to an angled lens/plastic cover, that would have a glancing impact to the lens.

The Honda dealership I called said it’s a common repair for them.... even the service guys think it’s a defect in design

The problem is more common. I recently rented a Nissan Pathfinder and on the first day of driving I noticed that one foglight was shattered.

I can't be 100% sure whether it was already broken when I picked up the car, but there was no trace of impact anywhere on the bumper. How these rocks take out just the foglights without hitting many times other places? The lens must be extremely brittle so that even tiny debris can break it that are unable to nick the bumper. And the foglight on the Pathfinder is much higher than on the Civic.

I know this is an old thread, but figured I would reply here instead of creating a new one. This part appears to be $107 now. Was it really $40 3 years ago? My car is a 2018 EXT.

My drivers side shattered recently. Hoping I can get it for cheaper.

does the front bumper have to come off to replace this?

thanks!
