Shipped the Miata down to Georgia. You bringing CTR or CSi?
Becy has some tires to burn. Si won't get prepped till February, as there's no point in aging tires for the winter!

2 Events since putting on the eibach 25mm rear bar. My son co-drives with me. He is 14 years old, but is able to drive per permit as long as I am in the car with him. So, his times all have a 230 pound weight penalty. Because he is competitive, he always wants to ride along with me so I don't have a weight advantage. For me, its a 138 pound penalty. There is a benefit of seeing the course more times, but nobody has complained about that perhaps because, well, we are talking about regional events, and we aren't in the running for any annual trophies at any of the events because we have not run enough events with one club. Beyond that, it is a significant weight penalty to have a ride along.

9/29/2019 NRSCCA Lincoln Airway Park. I pulled the pins and shoved the struts toward the middle. Very fast and open course. Would have been a handful in the camaro, but the si just drives right through it and we are on the rev limiter several seconds per run. In order of me and son, 1st and 2nd in GS and 5th and 6th in Pax. We got lucky with dry runs, and the wet run group had multiple people that would have challenged our PAX finish.

10/6/2019 Great River Region Davenport, IA. Had the toe set to 0 and rotated tires front to back because of shoulder wear. Small lot, but relatively open course. I think it favored horsepower cars a bit because of a few drag race sections. This time, he beat me. 1st and 2nd in class and 3rd and 7th in PAX.

Rev hang was less of a concern these 2 events. My son hates the brakes, but I don't mind them. Forgot to put in sport mode the first 3 runs of the GRR event, and the rear end was flopping all over the place. Otherwise, the car is super easy to drive. Reminds me of my Fiesta ST without the threat of rolling over. It is eating tires pretty quickly. Been running pressures at 32 front 35 rear.

How do we go about making a case for our own ProSolo class?
We had the numbers to make a class at all but 2 of the events this year. The 2 we didn't we had 4 and 3.
Not counting Crows, as I dont think the posted results are complete there are no S or L classes listed.
For the rest of the events, we had:
3, 9, 9, 9, 12, 5, 4, 6, 9, 6.

That's pretty low. Not sure what tire / size you are running, but on the 255-17 RE71 I run 37 square on most lots. On BFGs I would likely try around 40. The RE71 in particular is pretty pressure agnostic, and for me at least, tire pressure primarily adjusts how fast the shoulders wear.

How do we go about making a case for our own ProSolo class?
Unlike Tour stuff which has ACs, an SEB, etc, ProSolo is completely run by one guy. It was under the purview of Howard Duncan, he is in process of handing over the reins. New guy is Mike King. I'm sure the popularity of DS/GS isn't unnoticed, I'd be shocked to see an S4 again next year.

Honestly it’s ridiculous that any street classes are pre-bumped. It’s certainly not in the best interest of the participants. They have completely forgot who these events are for. If the sponsors don’t like it they can reduce what they payout for contingency. Not sure how we even got to this point. Maybe if the pros didn’t sell out in under 4 minutes things might get fixed.

One more event before the end of the season here in the upper midwest. Sunday, my son and I ran a local event. Finished 1st in PAX. My son had a faster raw time, but it was dirty. He ended up 2nd in class and 3rd in PAX. We were 7th and 8th in raw times. I was able to run without him in the car, and it made a big difference in times and how the car handled. So, I can recommend not having a 137 pound passenger in the car. Go figure. My son ran with a lighter person in the car, but still had a weight penalty that I didn't have to deal with. This was the perfect PAX event for the Civic Si. Below 50 all day on a small lot with only one place where we touched the rev limiter. I think there is a meme for this.

Stuck with the 32f 35r pressures. Front tires definitely need to be flipped or tossed and relegated to rear duty. Next event, I am going to go with burglar's recommendation and try 37f&r and see how it feels. Bought some 255's to replace the fronts, but only bought 2 255's. The rears will be 245's. Any issues with these cars if the diameters front to back don't match?

If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

Serious question: I've always replaced my wheel studs with ARP stuff pretty immediately after I get a new car. How challenging is it on the Civic? Does the hub have to come completely out to do it?

Silly stupid question: I hate the license plate covering up 25% of the radiator. I found the Perrin license plate replacement kit which requires a hole cut in the plastic near the fog light, seen here: https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/perrinperformance/perrin.com/products/PHP-BDY-201.pdf . Is this street class legal...cutting away 2oz of plastic material?

Sort of forgot about this thread. Took the year off with my car, mostly after selling the wheels to a friend.

Found a set of GS legal OZ Alleggeritas for $600 used with some flipped and mostly dead RE71s on them. Figure it's a decent deal since new the wheels are around $375 each from TR. Going to run it this weekend at a non-SCCA club. Hopefully Barb S. will be there! Still on CTR rear bar, and stock alignment (pins pulled) with around 42k miles.

Rear no, Front yes.

On the Type R you don't need the hub to come out, but on the SI you do.

I've heard legends of people figuring out a way of loosening and tightening different bolts to get more camber. Does anyone know special tricks other than the pre-slotted stuff?

If you're mildly foolish, you could do the Chicago SCCA event this weekend on Saturday and Sunday. Really crazy, and you run the November CCSCC event in Rantoul.

I am quite foolish, but can't make it to those events this year. Want to come over that way to get beat up a little bit (or more) by yourself and others next year.
