GPS broken?

I think my GPS is broken. The GPS icon doesn’t appear anymore on the top/middle of the touchscreen and the NAV map show me in a wildly incorrect location.

Is there something I can reset or reboot? Or do I need to take it to the dealer?

On a whim I decided to disconnect the battery for 30 seconds (pull the positive terminal) and reconnected it, and this allowed the GPS to start searching and driving the NAV system again. When I drove off the first time, it threw about a dozen false error messages (VSA, EPS, TPMS, Brake System, Brake Assist, etc), but after stopping and turning the car off once, all of this cleared up as well. GPS is back in business.

GOOD FOR YOU :) If you had taken it to the Dealer, you would have wasted hours, got an obscene bill, and all they would have done "out the back" is exactly what you did -- disconnect the battery to RESET the head Unit. !! (or more likely, just the radio fuse, if they were any good )

I this happens again you might just want to pull the Head Unit (Radio) FUSE (under the hood) for a short time instead of disconnecting the battery. This will then only RESET the head Unit, and all the other system will not be disturbed (with battery backup power loss), and you wont get all those error messages (VSA, EPS, TPMS, Brake System, Brake Assist, etc),

Remember, the head unit is a very old, dated, obsolete Android 4 system, and those old Android Version system were not that perfect in controlling their resources. Pulling the power, and causing the Android unit to reset, re-initialize with a cold boot, will often bring it back to life, with restored performance.
The only drawback, is that it will revert to DEFAULT settings (Loose any Radio presets etc), so you will need to go back in and set any settings you had changed before the reset,

Thanks for your answer. I thought about your fuse idea but couldn't figure out which one it was by reading over the fuse descriptions in the Owners ManuaI, (still can’t!) I can live with losing the radio presets; super glad the destination shortcuts in the NAV weren’t lost (I have hundreds).

You could also try to unplug the GPS module itself (it’s underneath the gauge hood visor, though I’m not sure how to unplug it). If you bring it to a dealer you’ll waste an hour of time but they probably would have this fall under warranty so no charge.
