Big thanks! It's not over. I uploaded the original tune back on that I previously have been running. I'm not tinkering with it until I get some data from more runs. I plan on running next Friday. Although, there are supossed to be record high temps midweek, temps are supposed to drop like a rock by next Friday. How low remains to be seen.

I've never been one for excuses so the 13.8's are what they are. I have some ideas but I should've left the tune alone until I tested the effects of the tires. Will see either way! ;) Looking forward to your runs if you hit the track soon.
Hopefully you get it figured out! I'm sure the Aggressive VSA will help tremendously.
I went from wheel spin city to a chirp maybe.....you know it's just right when it feels almost like you're skating off the line and you just go!

I ran the car 100% stock one night last year when the wife still had the car and did a 13.9 at 100mphish.....I try to keep immaculate records but I cannot find that time slip to save my life!
Pretty sure the wife though it was a receipt & threw it out! Pretty much average with some people in the low 14's due to conditions. Haven't made it this year due to being rear end 7/02/19 and still dealing with all of that.
Last Friday was Test n' Tune but I was in pretty bad shape after work, I just couldn't get the strength to drive an hour there. This second accident really messed me up and it's been a lot tougher to get out.....Usually just late night runs.

Why I've been using the KTuner/Tunerview 1/4 mile/stats timer so much......been seeing 13.6's in this crazy heat but it definitely feels faster. The stage 2 tune adds so much torque my problem is traction so I really really like the Advanced VSA. Helped me out tremendously! However I am beating or running with much faster cars, pretty blown away with what it can hang with. We have tons of hilly sweeping roads that are fabulous even in the Accord, which unexpectedly keeps up with much quicker cars there as well. I'm telling ya I was over the moon with the Si but this Accord is a hidden gem......I love pulling into the Fri/Sat night lots, I get so much hate but I love being the underdog!

Hopefully I can get in a 1/4 mile again this year. 1/8th Mile whats really big here & 10 minutes from the house, might be able to get in between events.
I'd definitely go back to the stock tune or see if the Econ setting kept it running consistent if I bracket race....just too easy!

No luck tonight.
Went to Cecil County Raceway today but they are having a special event all weekend. So drove 1.5hrs to Atco Raceway. Then ran only once 1.5hrs later after tech inspection due to track clean-up. Guess what I ran?
13.8@103mph :eek: Then they had another spill so I left.

Tune is back to the custom tune I had when I ran my 13.4s. Intake was changed to the open box SRI/CAI for reasons I'll discuss another time. Not sure what's up with my trap speed. It's as if I lost power. And the weather/temps were PERFECT. My 60ft times are back to the 2.3 range instead of my usual 2.1's.

So....I have some work to do. Will do what @CrippleRipple suggested and max out my advanced VSA. My take off from a dead stop feels like shi*. Too much delay before the onset of power and chirping tires/loss of grip. Will see how things go. Back to the drawing board.

Went to the track last night. Here's what I ran.

[email protected]

I stopped testing as I knew something was up with my car. It feels fine and runs great. I did change my front pipe and exhaust back to stock. Interesting enough, my trap speed dropped by 1mph from when I previously ran on 9/28/19 and 10/4/19. Weird.....will look into this later.

Meanwhile, my car is still much slower than before. So tonight I did a datalog to see what's up. It looks like I'm only running 13.8-14psi of boost max. I was thinking that I possibly had a boost leak, which made me make a datalog but the TC Target was also between 13.8-14psi through my whole wide open throttle run. So I've been running the 13.7-13.9's@102-103mph at 14psi of boost. My tune was set for at least 24psi. So I'm asking for Derek's help to look at the tune file he sent me to see if perhaps it was the wrong file or that I may have 'Myxed' it up with one of my other files.

In any case, will see how it goes. Will update as I find out more. 'Cause if I'm running quicker now on 14psi of boost than was on Ktuner Stage 2 base map....man.....can't wait to get the boost back up to 24psi minimum for some testing.

Tested on 10/15/19 at Atco Raceway.
Ran two 13.7's and three 13.8's. All at 102mph except one at 104mph. ??????
Thought maybe map 3 was my standard map setting and that map one was my most aggressive. So ran on Map 1 just to see.
14.4@97mph

So I'm completed baffled as to why I am running slower 1/4 mile times and trap speeds since changing my tires out. The ride feels awesome. My wife even noticed as she was driving it. Says it feels similar to her 2018 Sport Hatch with it's low profile tires.

Why I'm running slower with tires that are a 1/2" smaller in diameter and 4lbs lighter than my previous tires? This is kicking my arse! In all my years modifying, I've never seen this. So I'm stuck at the moment. My apologies as I was fully excited to see how this was going to turn out.

I never imagined I'd be running 13.4's in this car anyways. So.....I may be taking a break for now and tinker with my RAV4 until I get some ideas on understanding whats going on. The car drives just fine otherwise. Currently, I'm back to just having the Myxal SRI, PRL Downpipe and a tune. Will have to figure this out some other time. I'm out of ideas at the moment. :hmm:

In Thailand The OMDRacingone Civic CVT runs a 12.7 .Just saw this on FB

Google Translate didn't do much with this ,but basicly they all run the OMD intake tube (which replaces the stock plastic one) and a hks bov ,intercooler ,cvt cooler ,exhaust, downpipe and a tune .
They have a upgraded turbo available ,but i don't know if they run it on this car .
I also see several carbon fiber parts so weight reduction is also here. 263Hp and 334nm ( 246ft/lbs ) of torque i think this is at the crank?

Thanks for this info. I've reached out to the other guys in Thailand that ran in the 12's but they haven't responded. I noticed in all of their videos and this one that the person racing revs their car 3x, taking off on the 3rd rev. This video they took off on the 4th rev. There's something with that technique. I don't think that is a coincidence.

In the meantime, I've been quiet due to busy working. I just received a Ktuner V2 so I FINALLY can do some proper datalogging. I need to get myself accustomed to using this piece.

Just a thought (and I apologize if I missed this detail): if your wheels and tires are a variable and your traps are high but your times are off... are the tires as ‘sticky’ as your old ones and the same width? I’m seeing times and traps... but not 60 fts. How did your 60 ft times react to the new rims/rubber?

I should've posted the whole slips. At first, my 60ft times were in the 2.3-2.4 ranges. Now they are in the 2.1-2.2 range. They are not as consistently in the 2.1's like before but they are attainable. That said, even when hitting the 2.1's, my 330ft/660ft, 1/4 mile time and trap speeds were slower.

The width of the tires are smaller. So this could potentially play a large part. It's just when I got similar 2.1's, it was still slow. I have some testing/troubleshooting to do. If not complete this year, it's been a great year so far. ;)

Narrower tires for your drive wheels would generally make it easier to spin and hurt your launch... but it sounds like your 60 fts really weren’t hurt by it.

Your boost is awful low compared to your targets from a few posts ago. Did you ever do a leak down test? When I’ve had leaks, its always made boost still rise, but at a new lower peak. The ducting wouldn’t leak much/at all until a certain pressure. Hose clamps is what always got me on my other turbo cars.

It's interesting you are saying this. When I went out to try to beat my 13.4 1/4 mile runs, I did a few things. I redid my Myxal intake to make it airtight, I 'tried' to max boost my 1st gear in the custom tune I had and there was a 3rd item I can't remember. However, I was going to gold wrap the intercooler to throttle body piping and had started to remove it but changed my mind. When I say I 'started to remove', I loosened the hose clamps and a couple of rubber hoses going to it and began wringing it loose but changed my mind. The Depo Racing hose clamps aren't the best and I did have one come off the turbo outlet right after having the intercooler installed.

I will go about removing those hose clamps and replacing them with 'T' bolt (I think this is what they are called) hose clamps. Will ensure they are tight. There is some suspicion that they may be letting through a psi or two at max boost. The car is slower for no reason at all. Consistently slower but slower. Will work on 'T' bolt clampings on Monday.

Oh and NO...I never did a leakdown test. Don't know how actually. I can Google I know but I remember reading I needed an air compressor of sorts to perform this.

Can you upload a log? Make sure you're using your highest psi map and do a couple WOT pulls.

@charleswrivers
What do you think of using these two items for testing?
Portable Air Compressor
Turbo Boost Leak Tester

Am I getting ahead of myself and there is a much simpler, better way?
The leak detector might be OK. You just need to pop your air box off the duct and measure it to make sure it’s the right size. I thought we had a 3” not a 4” eyeballin it but I might be totally wrong.

As to the compressor, I’m sorry to say small 12v compressors don’t work very well. They just don’t actively move enough volume (scfm) of air as the little motor is running. You really need a compressor with a tank to allow it to pressurize and then use that stored air to pressurize your ducting. There’s actually quite a lot of volume your need to pressurize between the inlet duct after the air box is off... then downstream to the little plastic turbo inlet... the turbo... the ducting to the inter cooler, the inter cooler, the ducting to the throttle body and then to the shut throttle body.

Find a friend with a compressor w something like a 5 gallon tank or bigger. You also would rather have the compressor off and the tank storing the air so when you pressurize the intake, you can hear the air leak. With the compressor running, it’ll be so loud you won’t hear a thing but it.

Will do! I need to setup and get accustomed to using the Ktuner V2. Working all weekend. I'll get right on it though.

Another thing to mention is that Derek has BBG set to 18psi in "first" on the TSP tune. Have you tried doing a run with BBG disabled + using the aggressive Advanced VSA setting? Just throwing ideas out there as far as track times go.

As far as boost targets...

On a datalog I ran on my car, Map 3 was targeting 23.1 psi but I actually hit 26.2 psi. When I saw that, I nearly fainted.
