I think you have to drive the car at highway speed for about 30 mins. But last time I reset the tpms and drove about 20 mins in stop and go traffic up to 55 mph and tpms light didn’t come back on.

I believe the owners manual would have that info. If memory serves, its supposed to take up to about 30 minutes, ideally with speeds ranging from 30-60mph.

thanks for the reply, wondering if it could be calibrated with one tire of a different size or do all the tires need to be within a certain size of each other. only wondering. no plans

Tires need to be the same size or you will get a different tire diameter code

Sorry to bring up an old topic, but, this seems like the best thread to piggy back on.

The TPMS Calibration you are referring is from the infotainment System menu options, right? I've had to run this on my '19 Si a few times lately as well. But, it will only allow me to start it when the car is stopped and parking break is on. Are we talking about different things? The manual, unless I missed it completely, doesn't mention a whole lot about this - frustratingly ineffective manual.

Anyway - along the same lines, when the TPMS sensor alerts of a low tire pressure, what does it take to reset the alert? Will the low tire pressure on-screen/dash alert go off by itself once it recognizes the tire is at full pressure? Or, do I have to recalibrate after filling?

Sorry for the newb question....

Once you calibrate the tpms, on the si by the touch screen the indicator will go out. The calibration takes some time. Try to not spin the tires during that period.

"Takes some time.." I did this yesterday after work and after I got home and the light went out immediately and the menu returned (away from the TPMS Calibration Started message) in less than a minute. It sounds like you are saying the calibration continues even though the message is gone and the screen is active again. I'm just not seeing this kind of time....

You've got to be kidding about the manual. This is by far the best manual I've ever had for a vehicle. My gf just bought a 2020 Kia Soul and her manual pales in comparison to this one.

Anyway, the information you need is indeed in the manual (see pics below). It's pretty nicely explained. Yes, you can only start the calibration from a parked position. Yes, you need to do it after every time you add air to your tires. Yes, the calibration screen will exit on it's own once the calibration has started. The calibration will continue for up to 20 minutes in the background and complete on its own.
