How much do I stand to lose by trading my Civic after only a few months of ownership?

Got a 2019 Si to replace my 2007 Si, and I must be getting old because I'm not feeling it.
Good gas mileage, power, shifter, etc, but meh.
Anyway, I'm thinking of going the CUV route like a Forester or CX-5 because I find that I no longer care too much about shifting gears and I just want to put the damn thing in drive and go.
How much will I lose my ass?

im assuming you purchased the car and not leased or financed it?

if that is correct,

you would probably lose about 25% of what you paid if you sell it privately, and a bit more then that on a trade in,

a car depreciates about 20% as soon as you drive it off the lot
I'm financing about $15K as I put down $10K.
Oh, another thing, I bought an extended warranty, which is also added to the car note.
Do I get a prorated amount back on the warranty if I trade?

you should walk away with some value on the trade in since you put so much down upfront so the car value is higher then the remaining balance due but you are gonna lose your ass trading in something that new.

Better off selling at Carmax and or Carvana if you don't want to deal with private sales.

You will get a prorated refund on your extended warranty.

+1 for the Carmax quote.

At least you'll have a good feel for the trade-in market value. You can go from there and compare to KBB, Edmunds, and the others.

There's too much fuckery with the paperwork when they group it all together for a new purchase/trade-in combo.

Greetings, I just joined and the SI 6MT is on my short list of cars that I'm looking for. If you decide to sell PM me any details of the car and your location.

You should be alright SI hold their value. You should be able to sell it for 21-22 and get half your down payment back

Just goofing around on KBB for 30 seconds, in my area (Oklahoma) youā€™ll be looking at 20ish trade in and 23ish private party

That was using standard equipment 3k miles, ā€œgoodā€ condition and black paint. The coupe is worth identical trade in and a few hundred dollars less private party than the sedan.

The Si would hold itā€™s value slightly more i think. Heā€™ll probably lose closer to 10-15%
