I know that with android auto I didn't see any option to add that to my instrument cluster. I've got both android and iOS but I prefer iOS for day to day use.
Ummm it should work automatically! I have a touring model and use both Carplay and Android auto and never seen a option to get directions on the instrument cluster, but when using Android auto it just works.

To my understanding, you have to have the compass option available for your cluster.

K, so I'm assuming that this feature won't be coming to non touring cars... Next question...

Can Honda activate this feature or full Nav in an EX-T for a fee?

Probably not. I have a friend who has a Dodge Dart, he essentially had to rip apart the head unit and replace the motherboard inside with one from a higher model that supports navigation. I would assume that you would have to do the same type of thing with a Honda, as it's probably not a flip the switch type thing to activate it.

Does the CarPlay GUI feed from the iPhone or is it all loaded (and static) in the head-unit until the head-unit is updated manually? So when IOS10 is updated on my phone, will CarPlay features automatically update? If not, do I have to take it to Honda for updates? No other way to push updates to the head-unit?

CarPlay itself is located on the phone. The Headunit is just capable of interpreting the data from the phone

Im running iOS 10 beta 1 on an iPhone 6S Plus and I do not see CarPlay Navigation in the instrument cluster. It still defaults to the stock compass. (I own a Touring).

It will work this fall. Honda has to update the car to interact with CarPlay to display on the instrument cluster.

i have iOS 10 plubic beta on my iPhone 6 plus. and here are ht etchings that are not working:
Siri: long press of the talk button just brings siri and closes it again. therefore there can't be o iteration with the carplay functionality using siri. touch screen does work though.

Beta 2 seems to mess with the GPS signal, it was all over the map when I used it today in Apple Maps and Google Maps :-/

Where has it been publicized that Honda will or can add support for this?"
I would like to know this as well.

It would be extremely frustrating for these features to be available only to 17' models. Especially since, unless they trash the whole infotainment system, it would just be a software upgrade for 16's.

Then again, they may actually trash the infotainment system...
