Thanks again for the great response so far. Let's keep building this up. If you know a member who is tuned but hasn't added their info, feel free to let them know about this survey/topic. The more responses we get, the clearer the picture is as far the reliability of the tunes out there.

Also if you feel like adding additional comments/info to your surveys, feel free. The more hands on knowledge, the better.

**Updated 11/19/2020**

Vehicle: 2017 Civic Si Sedan

Total tuned time: 5 months 18 months

Total tuned mileage: 8,000 15,000 miles

Tuning device(s) used: KTuner V2

Tunes used:
  • Factory/21.5 base map, customized with mild Rev Hang Disable, Advanced VSA (mild), and map switching (Factory through 23 PSI).
  • TSP Stage 1 with Advanced VSA (mild).

Fuel used: Costco 91, Chevron 91

Additional engine mods: None

Problems/issues: None (though I do notice the hesitation using the Rev Hang Delete in stop & go)

Driving style: Normal with spirited bursts throughout the week. I spend most of my time on TSP Map 2 (non-Sport mode). I usually hit the higher PSI at least 2-3 times a day. But never when taking off from a dig. Clutch continues to hold up great.

I've since re-enabled rev hang due to the constant jerkiness in stop & go. I've learned to live with it.

Total tuned time: 4 years ( updated )

Total tuned mileage: 45,000
+ miles (updated )

Tuning device(s) used: Hondata CARB, ( update, currently getting ready to switch over to a Phearable non-SI K-Tuner )

Tunes used: Hondata +6, custom tuned by MakSpeed

Fuel used: Costco 91

Additional engine mods: 27Won CAI, (updated, was using a PRL Stage 1 kit )

Problems/issues:
None ( update, not really a problem, but since using the 27WON CAI, LTFT has increased from -2.1 to -3.9. best guess why may be the slightly undersized 58mm MAF housing used by 27WON vs. the OEM 60mm housing )

Driving style: Daily driver, with occasional backroad canyon carving

Vehicle: 2019 hatch sport

Total tuned time: 4.5 months, tuned 2 weeks into ownership

Total tuned mileage: 6000mi since 1000mi

Tuning device(s) used: ktuner

Tunes used: Mostly 18psi starter map, had 21psi for the past month but reverted back to 18psi a few days ago. Clutch already takes a beating in LA + my driving. And the 21psi peak tq seems to be right at the limit of stock clutch based on what I read here (~260wtq). Of course I'm never wot at 3k but still. I like to beat on the car a bit without sweating

Fuel used: 91, initially shell but switched to chevron because when people have contamination issues it's usually shell lol

Additional engine mods: Prl cai (race maf), prl intercooler, 27won catted dp/fp, straight through magnaflow muffler

Problems/issues: The prl cai was running lean even with the provided maf scaling, so I had to adjust it a bit with the help of @PowerPerLiter. LTFT is between 0 and -3 now

Driving style: When the engines cold I try to avoid boost and heavy throttle. When engines nice and warm I like to blast through 1st and 2nd between lights, kind of sad but 2nd is my "fun gear" due to the traffic/laws and street layouts. On the freeways I'm usually just reacting to random slowdowns and creeping along unless it's late at night. For context I'm currently at 24 lifetime mpg, rarely do I actually get to cruise. Also I swear the mpg went down after I switched from stock maf to race maf, used to be a solid 28mpg. Or maybe I've just been in more stop and go the past month.

Total tuned time: 8 months(?)

Total tuned mileage: 3000+ miles

Tuning device(s) used: KTuner V1.2

Tunes used: KTuner 19/21, current tune TSP Stage 1, hanging out in map 2 always

Fuel used: Shell 93 Ultra exclusively

Additional engine mods:

Problems/issues: No notable, other than occasionally my foot will knock the Ktuner module out of the ECU hooup

Driving style: Moderately aggressive, Highway is always 10-20 over speed limit, a fair amount of hard pulls in 3rd and 4th gear in the twisty stuff

Same! For me that would also knock out my Cortex boost controllers inputs for RPM and Speed. Since I spliced into a OBD2 splitter

Total tuned time: 4 months maybe?

Total tuned mileage: 5000-6000 (8,336 total miles right now since ownership)

Tuning device(s) used: Hondata

Tunes used: Hondata +9 / now using TSP Stage 1

Fuel used: Shell 91 90% of the time / Chevron 91 10% of the time.

Additional engine mods: K&N SRI Typhoon intake / Mishimoto oil catch can

Problems/issues: Unstable knock control now that weather is getting colder here in SoCal. Will datalog to further diagnose. Otherwise car runs as it should.

Driving style: Rev hang is enabled for day to day driving and bumper to bumper traffic. I occasionally do a few 2nd to 3rd gear pulls on the street up to speed limit (45/50). I canyon run a few times a month where I'm running my car somewhat aggressive; once every month or two I fully run the car in the canyons but to be honest that sort of faded 4 months into owning the car. Any sort of pull or canyon run is done with sport mode on and rev hang disabled. No Lift Shifting is done when I'm merging on the freeway from time to time (I noticed thats when my knock control also spikes temporarily) but I've never NLS when canyon running.

I really appreciate you posting both your past and current car. IMO, the more info we can get regarding tuning reliability the better.

So even if any members have sold their tuned Civic X and drive something un-tuned currently, please post up about your tuned experience.

Thanks again everybody.
