Sorry I know this might be childish, but this really made my day!

Opened up my email just now and saw this coupon from my local dealership.

"ORIGINAL AIR CABIN FILTER SERVICE" originally priced at $89.95, now discounted at $79.11!

***for those who didn't get it; this is a total rip off.

***you can buy one from any genuine honda distributor website or even your local dealership between $18-$25 and do it yourself. This "service" basically takes less than 3 minutes to do.

unless you're super lazy, save some money and just do it yourself.

And truthfully, you don't even need a Honda filter to get the job done. For $7 and 90 seconds of work, you're golden.

For $50, they'd better service me for 3 minutes.
1 Hour Minimum Labor charge for any job even jobs that take 3 minutes, not that uncommon to be honest.

Not that I'm saying it's justified, but some people are just that lazy and have enough money to be that lazy.

My local Toyota dealer wanted $120 or $130 to replace the PCV valve on my RAV4. I don't think there is an easier part to replace.

Anyone who can’t replace their own damn cabin filter shouldn’t even be permitted to drive an automobile. I mean WTF? They’re even lamer than those technical whizzes who drive to the dealer to have them replace the button battery in their key fob.

Oh, but “free” coffee in the waiting room. :D

I had my Civic serviced over the weekend and was told I needed the air cabin filter service for $78.74 (CDN). Told them not to do it and I just bought the OEM filter from them for $34.22 and did it myself. Surprisingly the dealership filter was cheaper than the equivalent at a Canadian Tire or Parts Source (just over $40).

I just buy the Bosch HEPA rated filters and be done with it. Really helped last summer driving through grass seed fields where we could literally see the fields spewing pollen into the air.

Ya, that is such a huge ripoff.

It’s like Best Buy’s Software Installation (not sure if they still do it) service. Out of curiosity, I asked the technician what it involves, thinking it might involve something greater than commonly thought. Not surprisingly, he said the team simply follows the built-in installer file steps (prompts) through completion. I forget the price, but it was a ripoff just like cabin air filter service costs.
