Trying to figure out which clutch to get. Everyone recommends Type R, I’m looking for something more available right now. I’m on TSP stage 1 with a full exhaust down pipe back and full intake. Plan on getting the 27won Turbo and an intercooler after I get a clutch to hold it.

Gonna get the light weight flywheel but which clutch and why. FX350, FX400 6 puck, FX400 8 puck. Not a daily driver just a play toy.

Any experience or advice would be appreciated.

When i dm'ed eman on instagram he said there's a 3 week wait time on the retrofit clutch/flywheel at $1350 (plus a $200 core rebate after you send back your OEM flywheel) OR no wait at $1650 (and no core rebate), try dm'ing him @k20zallmotor

Neither. If you can't wait for the R retro, I would look at other readily available options. Exedy may be worth a shot.

Been waiting for some reviews on the Exedy clutches, hear they are working on a flywheel too. From what I read, Action is the least favorable, then spec, they clutch masters, then Type R retro as best so far. I’m looking for something that will hold power/tq of a 27won W1 with FBO. Street toy not race car even though I build it more towards race. Hasport 82a side mounts on the way and 27won RMM been installed and I like how it feels.

i would almost be more worried about the bottom end than a clutch at those kind of HP numbers

I’m hoping to safely be in the low 300whp range. The turbo will be last too, if I need to build the block first I’m okay with that and will wait. But with my current setup I started to slip in 4th gear the other day, first time with the tune in cool weather 60 degrees out. I also plan on adding a PRL or 27Won intercooler, so the clutch is a must for what I am currently running.

I’m not going with any of those options especially not some fabricated clutch from some dude. I’m going with a action clutch and flywheel. Been running that clutch in multiple Honda’s for years.

Which action clutch/flywheel combo you doing? I've been looking for reviews from those running it.

I’m gonna be doing the stage 3, it holds 400 pounds of torque. It’s fairly new so there won’t be many reviews. So just check reviews of previous generations civic si’s! I’ve ran it in a 1996 civic, integra, 9th gen si and I’m planning on this car as well.

I have 2 to 3 months to buy the other parts and tools and save so I will check these out too. How do they compare to stock clutch of the mentioned cars for engagement, chatter, pedal feel?

I went and got the 8-puck rigid disc fx400 once my stock clutch started to slip with the TSP Stage 1 tune. Kept the stock flywheel.

I like the clutch. This is a serious clutch and the engagement is very solid. You will chirp 3rd gear if you go into it with any throttle whatsoever, which can be funny at low speed and low rpm's. Pedal feel is very solid. There's no mistaking the engagement point. You can drive it smooth but it takes effort until you are totally familiar with it.

Its definitely STIFF compared to stock. I remember it having some slight chatter to it on deceleration and reverse. The engagement was slightly aggressive. As soon as you let of the clutch it wants gas lol

I have the FX300 with light fly wheel and absolutely love how the clutch feels compared to stock. With what you're making I would probably lead towards a FX400. I believe that is what 27Won is running

I have the spec 2+ clutch with the steel flywheel. Definitely would need to pair it with the will-wood master cylinder to avoid the lockout. However, the cmc is leaking for some of us running it, currently waiting on replacement from spec. I'm running full bolt on plus 27won turbo. Clutch is definitely way more stiffer. I read somewhere that exedy had low torque ratings on their clutch?

Exedy doesn't appear to have any options right now, from what I've seen. Only ClutchMasters and Spec. Haven't heard much on Spec, though. Curious on your thoughts on Spec. Also, thoughts on stock flywheel vs. aftermarket. Need something that'll hold 300 WHP
