Is it possible to get a Civic with the Sport trim or higher that doesn’t have the push/start button? Even by specially ordering it through the dealership?

I’m hoping to purchase a new Civic Sedan or Coupe soon and would like this to be my ‘forever car’. I’d rather get one with the old-fashioned key system, as the push/start button could fail decades down the road. I would not mind getting the LX trim, which does not have this feature. However, the LX does not come in the color I’d like, which would be either rallye red or aegean blue.

Edit: The LX comes in all colors if you get the CVT transmission, but only comes in four colors if you get the 6-speed, apparently.

I don't think it's possible to customize the car that way from the factory. I'm imagining an assembly line coming to a halt because one guy wants too keep using a key and they have to make one car special. (Gentle teasing, of course!) :) Not many cars are made with the "old fashioned" key start these days. I don't think you need to worry about the push button start ignition failing any more than you'd need to worry about a keyed igntion failing. Plus, once you live with push button start for a bit, you won't be able to imagine living without it. Things change and evolve for good reason - don't give up on something you want because of a small detail!

I feel that with most tech that is stardard in cars now-a-days, worrying about push button start is kinda more worry than its worth. Push button start has been around for a while now, in some cars 20 years or so (BMW's). These are not known critical points of failure. i would worry more with audio systems and power windows and such before i would ever worry about push button start. Just my opinion. in some manufacturers you CAN'T buy a car without it. i just feel the tech has been around long enough and tried and true, shoot, Honda has had some form of push button since the s2000 days. I feel if you are worried about other options and color of car (i believe i saw another post from you about custom colors), than moving to a higher trim would solve 90% of your concerns, while takinga minute risk of part failure in the coming decades.

the options you get by bumping up to a sport trim i feel are worthwhile. take it from me, i have a had a car for over 10 years without a lot of the modern conviences that come standard now, and i'm looking to get a 20' Si at the beginning of the year. Things like Apple carplay/android auto is a must (love it on my wifes car), nicer sound system, beverage holders in front AND rear instead of just front, LEATHER WRAPPED WHEEL (believe me, i've had my car for 11 years and it did not have leather wrapped and it SHOWS). Small things add up, couple that with the color you want and such, and the keyless access soon becomes a LOVE about the car (I love my wifes, hate that i don't have it on mine).

For the record, I just bought a 2019 Sport Hatch, with the physical key and I miss my push button start. Spent the last 5 years with one and loved it. Now I gotta get used to a key again. :(
