Is the new one modded? Original uncut?
New one was unmodded and uncut as you can see from the pic. This tells me that Bosch has a tolerance when making these sensors. It does not have a lot of clearance like the modded sensor but it just barely clears the casing so it does not touch.

So, are you gonna keep using the modded one or switch back to the un-modded one? And have tou done any tests with the new one yo see any difference?

New one has the same readings as the modded one. I broke the modded one when I was messing with the probe. That’s why I got the new one.

So mod or spend $50 bucks on a new one and pray for better clearance?

Yes sir... or leave it the way it is. I wonder what other cars use this same Bosche MAP sensor or similar. Perhaps some are made better then others. It looks like as long as it is in the shroud barrier, it’s in specs in the sensor manufacturers eyes.

It’s pretty small...kept scoring it in the same spot until it snapped off.

Just wondering but how are you guys cutting that little plastic piece?

The idea of adding silicone down in the area from the body to the wire, is a great idea for sure. That video is a great find for sure! I wonder what that aftermarket sensor is from, or who makes it. It could be that it is generally a bad design with very thin wires and what not.

*couple of comments:

-both test were done on different days similar temperatures
-is not the perfect scenario but its a way to see the behavior
-take the results with a grain of salt

Results: Modified sensor provided cooler temps for a longer period on the rev range vs oem. Again take it with a grain of salt.

Pretty sure you chose correctly if just getting one.
Here is my PCV Radium Catch Can after just a month or so of daily driving in the 3-4.5k RPM band.

My CCV catch can didn’t even register on the dipstick lol.

for the life of me, I couldn't figure out the difference between CCV and PCV (thought they are the same, just different name), so I just went with PCV, which I think stands for Positive Crack case Ventilation (and CCV, is Crack Case Ventilation?)...hoping someone can clarify this for me...maybe go back and order CCV as well?

Sorry for the newbie question but if the overheated sensor seriously cuts power, it is enough to put the car in to limp mode when used on the race track?
