I blame the red Honda emblem, and the loose nut behind the wheel...

Any chance you were datalogging when this happened?

If bringing it back to the dealer for an attempt at warranty, be sure to put everything back to stock.

Oh crap! Well, I guess you can ignore the PM I sent you. It looks like you have a lot to take care of. So sorry...

Here we go fucking again! Ive been telling you guys this with almost every new blown engine thread that someone makes on this forum. RUNNING MORE BOOST THAN STOCK WILL BREAK THESE RODS!

Whether you drive it hard or not, these tunes will blow our engines eventually. And I highly doubt pookie abused his Si anyways.

Im sorry this happened to you man, the L15 bottom end just wasnt designed to handle more boost from the factory. Ppl can be in denial all they want, but the truth is the truth.

This by far isnt the first, and definitely won't be the last thread of this happening.

JDMpo0kie, I'm really sorry to hear about this.:(

I've been here at CivicX since almost day one and for the most part there is a pattern to these blown engine threads. I know Honda_RacerX says that the issue is the tune creating too much boost. And to an extent there's probably a bit of truth this. But...

90% of these threads are NOT from people running the base tunes on more or less stock setups. The common denominators seems to be a tune plus full bolt ons.

I believe the base tunes were designed and tested on more or less stock vehicles. They are conservative as far as torque and hp output. Once people add full bolt ons and start tweaking the tunes for more power, it's too much for the stock internals.

Well you know what they say about the early pioneers. They either froze to death, ate each other, or ate each other and then froze to death. But at least they left us a trail!

I've just excepted the fact that these cars can't handle the power reliably. Granted mine did pretty well for a short time, 355hp+. But it still blew in the end. And even if you build the motor. There's the drive shaft and trans to worry about. And dont get me started on decent clutches...

355 hp+ though. Yikes.

I get that... but are you saying it can't handle the 220 hp or so I'm getting from the TSP Stage 1 on my non-Si?

Yah plus E35, 34psi from a gtx2860r, and VP M1 meth injection.

It should be able to handle 220hp just fine that's for sure. Just don't drive WOT everywhere you go. But if you wish to touch 300s. Be ready ;) the risk factor starts to go up drastically.

That's always been my point. Use a base tune and maybe add an intake and don't abuse your ride and you should be fine. Pushing the power numbers too far beyond the canned tunes (on stock internals) hasn't worked out for anybody in the long term.
