Figure out what number you are willing to pay plus fees and tell them that's your number. Make sure and do the math yourself before you even go in. I did the tax myself and the salesman gave me a much higher number and I was like wtf is this? He tried to play dumb like he didn't know he was trying to scam me.

FYI: I used cars.com to get the prices from local dealers. Adding fee (destination, etc. ) and tax to the lowest offer, I had my OTD number in mind, then I went to the favorite, closest dealers or dealers that had the color/build (coupe vs sedan) I like and tell them my OTD number. If they couldn't match, I walked. I don't like haggling, so there is only one number from me.

I paid $24.5k OTD for brand new 2018 in SoCal.

Sale person whined about 'wheel locks, other accessories, etc.'. I said 'take them off', so he went quiet.

You did awesome. You've got to be able to ' walk '. Sold Minis part time, a few years ago. Real fun to know how the game works. It can be fun.
Everyone always caves in and pays extra, buys all the crap in the finance offer, ( you should buy zero!!!!).
