Well... When me and my dealer went for a testdrive and we couldn't hear it because of heavy rain. Also, all roads in that area have very low speed limits.
I basically said "fuck it... But if the tranny fails, you replace it.... Just have a note of this". We both agreed on it.

So for now... I'm still having that sound. I am more annoyed about small rocks/chips gathering up around the front wheel brakes making noises when i drive slowly.
... so my gearbox have been disassembled and a bearing on the main shaft is damaged. The delivery time for new bearing ist about 7 Weeks and then my dealer needs to order some adjustments plates to adjust the shaft play... So my type r will be ready to pick up at the end of August. My car has only 12.000km...

No luck from my end. Dealer says it's "normal" for this car.

Mine does it and I've been in four other Type Rs and they all do it as well. Not everyone can hear it from within the car even though I can. I can only hear it with the windows open.

I'm in the "it sounds like jingling keys" camp.

Interestingly, I was just in the Civic hatchback that the Type R is based on and didn't hear any wastegate rattle.

Yeah, itā€™s normal on the Type R. If you listen very closely on the Si, you can hear it but itā€™s not really noticeable.

Never noticed it on my ā€˜17 SI - must be super quiet. I noticed it Day 1 with my R though.

At this point, Iā€™ve put it in the same category as dash rattles - wish theyā€™d go away, but they probably wonā€™t.

I have the metallic sound and whining sound on 5th gear as well. Doesnā€™t bother me, and no way, Iā€™m bring it to the dealership for a transmission replacement. I take as ā€œBecause Racecarā€. LOL

Idk the specifics with the lemon law but any vehicle here in the states that takes longer than 31 days fall into lemon law category. In 2009 Chevy took 32 days to repair my Z06 transmission. Back ordered part. They paid my car payment for that month. $1250ish to avoid me lemoning it.

I have the key jingling sounds from day 1.. my car has 3000km only and i hear it daily.. exactly like fellows here.. it disappear when i accelerate but hear it when i let go the gas paddle...

I dont think the sound is from westgate as it is apparently from the back of the car.. at first i thought it is a rock trap between the rotor and brake cover plate.. but it is not.

I have a loud exhaust and even with that i can still hear it... so i wonder how other type r user dont notice it

I haven't noticed it for a while now. Either it goes away on its own, or I'm distracting from the intake and exhaust (just an idea) LOL.
