Yea man I came to that conclusion too. The ends don't justify the means. I'm still a little pissed I specifically went over this the salesman right before signing the papers. Only to see the press release two weeks later. He ghosted me after I called him out on it lol
The rims aren't a huge deal.. I can always grab a set of them or aftermarket ones. The LEDs, sensing safety technology, engine sound technology, revised front seats and gearing are a big deal $$$ though. Way too expensive to retro.
Do you have any other dealers you can check with? I went with my girl to get her 2020 Forester Sport and the dealers were all over the place. We went to 4 different dealers and got 4 different numbers. She ended up walking out of the last dealer paying less then the other 3 offered and got the down payment and trade in value she wanted. Her payment is literally almost $100 less then the first dealers quote.

I checked with several. The issue is the car was just acquired. My second payment was actually due yesterday. When you subtract the trade in value from the payoff figure, you come up with a negative balance. This balance would have to be paid + a down payment on the 2020. I don't see how the dealer could white wash this. Unless someone on here knows the sales game better and can offer some advice, it looks like I'm sticking with the 19. I'll most likely retro the LEDs and pickup the black rims to get the car where I want it to be.

Trade in value = less than the payoff figure

Every single change is controversial.

I don't want the LED headlights because they perform worse than the halogen, especially once you put in better bulbs.

I don't want Honda sensing because I want traditional intermittent wipers and I don't want the additional driver assists. It's more complicated stuff to fail and makes windshield replacement more expensive.

I like the appearance of the wheels, but not on the car. They don't look good with the body lines of the civic.

I don't want the new fake vents. The honeycomb looks far better and I already cut matching holes in the driver's side for the cold air intake. I doubt it will be that easy with the new fake vents.

I sincerely doubt they have made any significant changes to the drivetrain, like putting in a different clutch.
So I am doing the Hondata tune on my 2020 Si. I heard that there was an issue in prior models of the clutch slipping a little with the tune. I’ll let y’all know if I run into any issues with it. The front end is cool in my opinion but I do like the honeycomb a more. I agree with you on the wheels though. They are dope but they don’t really fit the car well.

The clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate are the same on the 2020. I doubt it'll be any better on your car

I like the old honeycomb vents just as much if not more. The rims aren't a huge deal.. You can always grab a set. The biggest things are the headlights, seats, sound tech, safety tech and gearing $$$.

Hey guys! New to the forum. Here is my platinum white pearl Si I picked up on Saturday.
I noticed the spec says this about the wheel ==> "18 in Machine-Finished Alloy with Gloss Black Insert".

Wonder what they mean by "insert"? Can you take a look at the wheel and see if the outside black piece is clad on or something? I see that in my Ford Fusion the outside piece is clad on. I'm wondering if the SI the same?

I believe that's the description for the previous wheel. The machine-finished part refers to the "bare" aluminum faces. The gloss black insert is just the black painted part.

Oh right. That makes sense.

I'll most likely retro the LEDs
I hope you know exactly what you're doing because LEDs are tricky bastards to drive because their brightness is proportional to the input current (vs halogen which is proportional to the input voltage). I saw some retro wiring harnesses selling on the web that looks to me like just use load resistors to step down the voltage to drive the LEDs. I hope I'm wrong but that looks like a wrong solution to me.

White looks like a good choice for Las Vegas temps.
Does it stay quite a bit cooler inside than dark colors?
Sure looks good with the black contrast.

That’s got to be an error. It’s still showing the old final gear ratio. The final in the sedan and coupe have both been lowered to 4.35 for 2020
That's good news. I kinda' verified it by looking at the difference in mpg between the 2019 vs the 2020 civic si's.
Both the 2020 sedan and coupe get 2 fewer miles per gallon than the 2019's.

As always I need to see better pics, but I am not yet feeling that front end
Yeah, I really don't like the new front either.

I also test drove an EX during a loaner while my Si got some recall work, and I hated the Honda Sensing and all those lane corrections. Ugh, it annoyed me so much. It was cool trying them out, but I immediately appreciated how driver orientated my Si is without all those fancy assists.
