Washed my car yesterday and took her to lunch today and walked out to see this:

Honda Civic 10th gen BIRD POO is toxic UNw6Xz9

Spent the next hour removing the etching from the toxic bird poo. Had to clay bar, then polish and finally re-wax her to fully clean condition.

Pro tip: get bird crap off the paint ASAP. I was only away for an hour and it etched.

Keep a small bottle of ONR (1:16 ratio) in your car for times like this.
Actually, I keep a bottle of Meguairs quick detailer for touch ups or whatever and used it to dab it away but the etching had already taken place.

when I first got my car I prepared a bottle of diluted ONR to slick off bird poop asap. Then one week I just kept getting bombarded by little bird poops at work and was like you know what, I don’t care anymore. I’ll just do my weekly wash+spray wax, and occasional clay+wax and call it a job done. The birds broke my spirit

Yep it always happens after you wash your car :banghead:
Btw I always keep a bottle of waterless car wash in the trunk for that reason

I use Lucas slick mist and wipe it down about once or twice a week and it seems to help the crap from sticking and etching, but in keep it in the trunk also and wipe it off ASAP.

Many years ago I'd sometimes park under a tree to keep the car in the shade. But at some point I figured it was less worse to have the sun on the car vs. bird poo or tree sap.

When I started getting interested in detailing I came to this realization. Also, add another tally to the onr/microfiber in the car at all times camp.

Had bird poop eat right through my clear coat on my 16' coupe hood (very small spot, only noticeable if you were looking for it) so i'm super vigilant with my 19' and keep detailing wipes in my glove box just to get it off when it happens.

I have no idea. it's never happened before on any of my other civics... i think it was just the perfect storm of whatever the bird ate, and the fact it was like 100 degrees in the summer that week, so it baked it onto the hood and it just ate through the clear coat in a matter of a day and a half until i finally was able to clean it off.

I got hit again. I’m thinking birds like SGP and see my car as a big ole target.

Thankfully no noticeable etching and because I had a nice wax coat the crap came off easily.

I just got my 2020 EX hatch in SPG on Saturday. 15 minutes after I got home, a bird shit in the center of the hood. I think SPG attracts birds and bugs. Saturday night, bugs flocked to it.

Yo, just realized we're both in TX. I'm in South Dallas, man.
