Oh and expect a lot of questions and compliments. Which is my favorite part!

Buy 18" wheels with tires that have a higher aspect ratio. I have bent 3 stock wheels in 4 months. Smaller wheels with meatier tires gives a smoother ride and expands the available tires on the market. Not a ton to choose from in stock size. Try to stay close to stock offset (+60) if you want to maintain the same level of handling. Although, I went down to +35 and have never felt like the car didn't perform well enough

Hey guys! First post ever here! I definitely am new to being on a forum and new to owning not just 1 but 2 Type R civics! Super excited. Have had 2 SI civics but traded them in this weekend for Type R civics for the fun of it. What should I expect being a new Type R owner?!

The other members mentioned most of the things already. Here are some other things.

Expect a lot of people calling you fast and furious or making some comment like that when seeing your CTR. Haha

Expect a super weak sounding horn. The car looks so aggressive and then sounds so silly when honking. I had to use my horn a few times and now its embarrassing to use it.

Also there is no built in garage opener. Small little feature I didn’t even think about when I was looking for the CTR. At the price point we pay you think it’s a feature that we would get. I’ll eventually retro fit it.

I just busted two of my stock wheels last week so I definitely feel your pain.. I'm looking at a set that I really want to get that is 19x8.5 +45. I'll be able to run 245/35 tires on that, I hope that'll be enough to not have to worry so much every time I go over an expansion joint or something minor like that..

Also wanted to second whoever said floor mats; I bought WeatherTech floor liners for the front and back. One of the best decisions ever, along with 303 fabric protector, works wonders!

If you go 18" you can raise the aspect ratio even higher to 40 and the overall wheel size (wheel + tire Diameter) will be within 3mm of stock (assuming 245/40/18), but you will have more sidewall and less to worry about on the roads (plus I think the meaty tires look good).
