Who here has had a GenX Si for a short time, but has either traded or thinking of trading it in?

Well after numerous attempts at contacting Eman I decided I dont think he will ever get back to me in regards to buying his clutch kit.

So I got a 3rd party dealer buyout quote. It was about $17,600ish so I had my lease broker buy it out and get me a 2019 Audi S4 premium. Figured I'd go AWD and auto that way my wife can drive it too if need be.

Still love my Civic SI but I think once the Audi arrives I'll forget about it quickly. You guys on this forum are great.
Wow that’s what we call an upgrade!

That’s odd I spoke to him several times today via IG
Yea I PM'd him on this forum with no response. I sent him multiple messages on Facebook and Instagram and never got a reply.

How it’s possible?
An Golf R starts at 42000$ (cad) while an S4 start at close to 60000$ (cad)
No idea they just lease terribly. 2019 S4 premiums start at $51k now. Audi has some good incentives this month and were willing to negotiate a decent amount off msrp. Try to get $5k off msrp on a Golf R it ain't happening lol

Price was about $48k (MSRP $53k) and residual is around $26k. Not sure about the MF. I didn't notice it on the paperwork when I skimmed over it. Not sure how good of a deal it is to the expert lease people out there but it worked for me.

I took my wife's Accord in for an oil change the other day and a sales guy was trying to talk me into trading in for a CTR they had on the lot. My Si lease is still so new that it would be a HORRIBLE financial decision, but I can't say it wasn't tempting. If I could get a CTR at actual MSRP price I would really consider it...

Only other thought is Subaru is FINALLY refreshing the STI with a new motor for 2021, which could be interesting, but I think I trust newer Honda motors more.

Appears about a 54% residual pending what all is in the 48k amount. That’s really not too bad. Would be curious what the MF is.

I’m currently trying to work a lease on a new Passport that has a 66% residual, which is crazy high! The MF is kind of high for my taste but they say they are popular.

BMW M 3 probably starts at 60k that’s a base package
2019 M3 base price is $67,495. Good luck finding one at that price. Would probably have to order it to get with no options.

Definitely been thinking about it. I've had mine since November 2017. I bought the Si because I figured it would have great reliability but the 1.5T dilution issues are worrisome, especially for someone like me who primarily does short drives in a cold climate. I also have the squeaky AC issue and some weird noise coming from my rear wheels that I need to get looked at. In some ways I also think I just bought the wrong car. I frequently take myself and 1-2 others to play hockey and the sedan layout isn't great for that (you have to run your sticks up between the seats and into the passenger footwell) and I also frequently go fishing and kayaking. The other thing is there aren't all that many opportunities to do fun driving around here, our backroad system is mostly a big grid and I'm too old to really hoon it on our city streets. The bumpy ride and road noise also get to me and my wife really hates the bumpy ride (it's definitely worse as a passenger.) The cloth seats are nice and grippy but as the owner of an extremely sheddy dog I think leather would be better as well.

Thinking about trading in and leasing either a DSG GTI or maybe even a top-trim Sportwagen next spring. The GTI is still probably overkill but the regular Golf only has the 1.4 now, the top trim Sportwagen is pretty decked out, comes with roof rails, AWD, has ~185hp and a DSG (although no paddles I don't think.) The draw of the regular Golf body is it's a foot shorter than the Civic which would be nice but the Sportwagen is the same length as the civic and SO much more practical in terms of hauling hockey gear, fishing gear, road tripping, etc.

The main thing holding me back is I know it's a really dumb financial decision. Even if I get good trade-in value sales tax is 13% in Ontario and I know the smart thing to do is drive this car into the ground. It's not like I can't afford it but I also know that whatever new car I get I won't love it for long anyway since if you're at all a car guy you're always looking for the next thing, which is why I'm just going to lease next time. Plus then I can get a VW without worrying about reliability or resale.

I'm not thinking of trading in my Si anytime soon, but I'm at a critical juncture where I don't know if I should keep modding the Si or not. I can see myself really wanting to upgrade to a CTR or something similar in a couple years, when it makes more financial sense... and then I'd be kinda kicking myself for spending cash on mods for the Si.
