my mind hasn't changed.
I had a 2014 cayman s and absolutely loved that car. Traded it for the current 911 C4S and regret it. I think the cayman is more my style of car. I bet the gt4 with a shorter final drive would be perfection.

Wouldn't the 911 not be a much higher performing car than the Cayman?

if you look at their 0-60 times and quarter mile times they’re almost identical. Cayman s has 325hp and 911 has 400hp. With their weight differences it comes out to almost no difference in straight line speed.

the handling feel of the cayman was just so much better. I’m sure the mid engine placement of the cayman vs rear engine placement of the 911 and the 4wd feel are what make the biggest difference. Add to that the 911 weighs more and has a bigger foot print they feel quite different around a track despite similar straight line performance.

yeah, i love caymans. I mean a GT3 would be sweet but that's a little out of my price range and i feel like a lighter midship would be a little more entertaining to drive.

The gt4 does seem like it needs shorter gears but man ... i looked at the price of that and oufff lol.

Yea that’s what turned me off to one. After I did basic intake/ exhaust/ tune stuff and a shorter final drive it was like 20-25k in stuff.

That is why I can’t bring myself to sell the ctr when I’m running down GT4s on track with it haha. Kind of just becomes a bragging piece vs a I want to go faster car.

“why don’t you race your GT4?”

“well my civic is faster around the track for 1/3 the price. I just have this to show off : P”

Depending on how hard the upcoming Toronto winter will be on my car.... I most likely will be looking for a $1000 winter beater for next year. Most likely a 1996-2000 Civic since I have a ton of experience working on those and they last forever. As long as there is minimal rust!
You're not considering driving it in the winter? I'm wanting an R myself, but I'd have to drive it year round.

i don't think i'd be able to track such an expensive car lol.
Would definitely be like a weekend car that's it.

ctr is great cause running costs aren’t too bad either. I don’t think I can get rid of it but need to add a gt4 to the stable lol. Was hoping the 981 might go down in price a little after the announcement of the new one but it didn’t rally budge lol

The Type R isn’t going anywhere for me. If I got a new car I would think about a Subaru Crosstrek or Outback, one because I could alternate the R with them, and two, they would be great when the weather starts turning south.
Well, I got a RAV4 instead of an Outback or Crosstrek, which is... sort of close? Not really. All the used Outbacks in this area had some very obvious issues with them so bleh.

I intend to drive this car til it's dead, which is hopefully a long time from now, so I don't really know. I expect EVs to be commonplace in 10 years or so, and 6-speeds will probably be gone for gas guzzlers.

I'd like to stick with Honda, but I guess it'll depend on whether they're still making fun cars. Maybe they'll bring back Si/Type R for the Honda e?

If gas prices stay elevated, most likely a Model 3 or Y soon. If gas prices stay below $4 in the next few years, will drive the R for the duration and maybe trade in for a Honda or Toyota sporty EV if they ever make one by then. I'm pretty much done with ICE cars having flipped seven in as many years. I'm ready for simplicity and sportiness and no range compromise. Honda, just make one without charging over $200k like certain manufacturer.

5 year plan - keep Type-R, sell Z06, buy '99 GT-R. Unless another Type-R I can daily comes out, I'll keep this until it dies and only buy classics from now on. Take too much of a hit on new sports cars.

I'm planning on keeping the Type R until it dies. If I do buy a car it'll be a second car that is just a bit more (or completely) impractical.

Next car might be my last, I am sixty. Happy to get an electric car, as long as it comes in stick.

Otherwise:
Mustang Roush or GT
S2k depending on what it is

A lot depends on the economy, politics, my health. Going to stick with gas/ petrol ICE. Based on my likely years of driving left, I don't see that being a problem. And it will outrage and irritate my kids.

I think this car would be great in the snow (not deep) but with proper snow tires and how predictable it is I'd roll this with winter tires in a second.
