I started using fuelly to track. How many miles per week do you drive? What percentage is highway? For me it is about 480 miles per week 80% highway.
basically 0% proper highway, once I get out of my neighborhood (about half a mile) it's 4-5 miles of 55 MPH state highways till I get into town then 35-40 MPH roads through town (2 stop sign intersections, a single red light and a Roundabout that NO ONE knows how to use) then 35-45 MPH roads out the other side of town and back again each day and I do like 130-140 miles per week which is why I only have 3 refuelings (not counting the first fill up immediately after buying it since that wasn't at my gas station I use because I was out of town) since I bought the car back in mid August, I refuel 2 weeks to the day with around about 270 miles to the tank, still can't put $20 into the tank vs the $32-34 a WEEK I was putting into my Trailblazer before it got regulated to weekend car duties.

I thought about doing something like Fuelly, even looked into it but my routine is so routine I remember the variations from tank to tank and can get a decent average in my head and can spot variations without needing an app to track things.

I also reset the Trip B mileage every fill up to use to track the mileage between fill ups and have seen the Trip B average mileage at the end of that 270 miles of driving be off by 2-3 MPG 2 of the 3 times so I don't trust that computer estimate worth a damn.

Hey all,

Curious to see how everyone's experience with their fuel economy has been since I have been doing much better than the numbers Honda has published. I did a quick search and couldn't find anything similar to this post.

I have a 2019 Civic Hatchback LX with the 1.5l turbo motor with a 6 speed manual. According to Honda, it should get 8.0/6.2/7.2 L/100KM (City/Hwy/Comb) - works out to 29/38/33 MPG for my American friends.

My last two tanks of fuel had averages of 5.9 & 6.3 L/100KM (40/37 MPG) - and on my last highway trip after refueling I was getting 4.7 (50 MPG) !!

To be fair, I am babying it a lot. I like to see what my "high score" will be, but I was not expecting to be getting such good economy numbers.

Photo for proof! Ignore the bottom number, I suppose that was from transport.

Honda fuel guide is the most accurate, if not its better than they say. This is good and they are not fooling you like other manufactures claim their mpg on certain models.
2 hours at 70 mph my clock was reading 53 mpg.I am happy with that.I have a civic sport plus 1.5 turbo.

I'm getting about 38 MPG for my daily life and a 430 mile trip, mostly expressway, was about 48 MPG. I drove from central Maryland to Emerald Isle, NC on a single tank of gas and still was able to putz around town a bit before filling up.

You can’t go by what the screen says. The true way to check your mileage is real easy with basic math. First you go to the gas station and fill it up, let the pump shut off by itself once full. Then crank it up and write down your odometer reading. Then drive it normally without trying to baby the hell out of it. Then once the low fuel light comes on you go to the same gas pump and fill it back up allowing the pump to shut off by itself once it’s full. Then you write down the gallons you had to put in to fill it up. Now you take your current odometer reading and subtract it from your previous odometer reading, and then take that number and divide it by the gallons you used to fill it up. This will give you a accurate mpg average. Like I said, my LX 2.0 MT gets 30-32 average

I'm getting 33 - 34 mpg with my '19 Si.
I don't baby it, but I don't hammer it every chance I get either.
I drive it in sport mode ... and will often coast in neutral going downhill in my neighborhood ... but my no means do I hyper mile it!

Last tank, I think I averaged about 6 mpg for the first 10 miles, because I was driving it hard in an empty parking lot, feeling out it's limits.

(as a side note, I have found the computer in MY Si to be quite accurate, in regards to mpg. It hasn't been different than my "manual" calculation of mpg, by more than +/- .2 mpg)

these computers are programmed to show a higher MPG then you are actually getting,

personally, i don't believe them one bit,

when i fill up my tank and calculate it out myself, its no where near what my cars MPG is telling me
Mine is off a bit, sometimes high sometimes low. Detail in pics but averaging around 44mpg past two tanks per fuelly.

I always get 34-35 actual. My dash reads 1-2mpg too high.

Did you all know that....

- Gasoline prices in the US have been basically flat historically and are about the same today as they were before WWII?
https://inflationdata.com/articles/inflation-adjusted-prices/inflation-adjusted-gasoline-prices/

- Half of the oil production of the KSA was knocked down recently and fuel prices practically didn't change at all?
(In my neck of the swamp the fuel price (Costco) is now $2.12 per gallon regular and ~$2.65 premium 93)
Nevertheless, of course some people, including on this forum, are constantly and habitually panicking about gas prices going up (because they finally must, right? But somehow they never do.

- The known oil reserves have been constantly increasing since oil was first discovered and are now at at least 3x what they were during the famous oil shortage hoax of the 70's/80' ?

I feel the pain of the inhabitants of all the miserable places :nono: where the governments are hyper-heavily taxing fuels, but it's as happy driving here as it ever was. :patriot::drive:

That doesn't mean that hypermiling is not a great fun and a hobby for some. And it keeps the air cleaner (a bit). But the best way of saving fuel still is what it always was: don't make that unnecessary trip at all. If you have a too long commute, move or get a new job (that would be a real hypermiling effort) and spend your miles only on pleasure drives like me.

My gas mileage according to the car computer over the last 3500+ miles is 30.6 mpg. And my odometer turned 10,000 miles :nixon:yesterday. So I burned about 327 gallons of gasoline in my civic during the 20 + months of ownership which cost me about $1000 (about $50 per month, only 93 premium).

Agree on this! I live in the city so I take my bike everywhere (except for when it snows... then I pop on the boots and get stepping). Why drive and stress about parking and worry that someone or something will hurt your ride?

I track everything else on Fuelly and my last average was 6.2L/100KM (37.9 mpg) according to the app. The car computer showed me 6.0 L/100KM (39.2 mpg)

I believe that the car computers don't take the fuel used while idling into consideration. Ever notice that while you're stopped it shows your consumption as zero?

Just got my Ktuner and flashed yesterday at work. Got 47 mpg on the way in before the flash, 59 on the way home, and finally 49 on the way back in today despite a 0-65 tire burning run. I have everything set aggressively and it will break the tires loose at from 20-40 mph pretty easily. I think it is hard to stay out of the boost, but may actually be more efficient with this tune and 93. My average commute is in the low 50's in the summer but can do it in the mid 60's hypermiling, or in the high 30's hauling ass. I've got 69,500 miles and only had three tanks under 40 mpg. Most are right at 50 and I hypermiled a whole tank once to see if I could hit 60. I did on the computer, but hand calculations had me at 58.9. Stopped Updating the Fuelly years ago when the wife took a 1000 mile road trip with no receipts and logged two of the under 40 mpg tanks.

I like where I live but there aren't many IT jobs around this area. I have been doing IT work since 2002 and enjoy my commute in some ways. It lets me cover tons of audiobooks. Dealing with traffic sucks less with a suitable distraction.

I have not worried about the price of gas. I like knowing how efficient I can be with a car. Even when I was young and driving 300-500whp cars, I still liked knowing how many miles I could squeeze out of a full tank. Hell it is why I drove a 350Z and Z06 from NJ to Disney. Many of my cars were decatted or catless, I don't care about the effects of a single cars pollution.

@Gruber Who is panicking about gas prices on the forum? People in California maybe?

I have a (new to me) 2017 EX-T Sedan averaging about the same, too much traffic in the mornings here...which is a bummer. But hey, I was getting 18avg with my 2007 Patriot...
