Got a part #?
IMO they are not false temps. It is what really the engine is breathing. There are tables to reduce or not reduce timing per temperature based on the ACT. If the engine is receiving cold air why take power away by the sensor reading higher than it should?

I did the mod myself and ordered a new sensor to have it as spare unmodified. I will be doing more testing and dataloging to see the impact of this. I did noticed colder temps than before and iat1/act being colder than iat2. Overall lower temps even at low speeds where the act/iat1 tend to skyrocket.

@boosted180sx also patiently waiting your reply
i haven't attempted this yet. Still debating if i want to give it a try or not.
I've seen sensors with a shroud as to not have the sensor get hit directly by the air to get a more constant reading like a few users before said. although having it rest on the plastics just doesn't make sense to me. Wonder if you can move it away from the plastic without messing with the shroud.

The replacement sensor is like $40-50 so i may give it a try. I'm going to remove it either way just to check to see if it's coated with oil although i don't have much miles and have had a catch can for most of it's life so might be ok.

I have not really experienced the IAT sticking around after car gets moving so idk. I too am curious to hear what Drob thinks about this.

Ok fellas. I removed the part again and push the probe more to the center and cleaned the oil off. I don’t experience the fluctuations of the temps anymore. It’s pretty much stable now. The air going to the intercooler is even lower then the air coming into my heat soaked intake lol . Drive was way better since I tested it out in stop and go traffic at 2-35 mph.
Makes sense that the fluctuations are fixed by removing the oil from the sensor and moving it further away. I bet it touching sporadically was causing that.

For those worried about the cage and the faster acting sensor causing issues, see the pics below. Every propery Air Charge Temp sensor looks similar to the below picture where the sensor it is exposed yet caged. This done to ensure the sensor acts as fast as it can.

Honda Civic 10th gen Mod your ACT Sensor And Gain HP?! ACTSensor

Then you have ambient air temp sensors which are meant to act slow (so your dash display isn't always fluctuating and being annoying), which are covered in plastic. If these were used for the ECU to read air temp, you could have situations where the actual temp is 170, but the sensor is playing catch up and reporting say 100.

I wonder a new OEM sensor bought from the dealer would have this problem. It’s for people that is uncomfortable for doing this mod.
