So idiot me shifted into reverse while the E Brake was engaged, got a message saying to "shift to P". But now its stuck there and when I turn on the car nothing on the instrument panel turns on except for the head light indicator. Infotainment seems fine, interior lights all work. I can manually shift out of park using the shift lock release but the gauge cluster is still off. When I exit the car and lock it I still see the Honda logo animation so it doesnt seem to be a fuse problem. The A/C also felt like it wasnt getting cold, just blew air. Anyone else have this happen? Going to the dealer tomorrow if I can't fix if myself tonight, but was wondering if you guys had any ideas.

Only thing I could think of to try is unhooking the battery for a few min to do a reset. I've done the same thing (shifting to R while the E-Brake is on) several times and never had an issue.

I'll try that in the morning. Went back and tried turning it on, something else I noticed, all the of the settings under vehicle are greyed out and I get a message saying that car must be in park to change. Also the Start stays red and it takes two button pushes to turn off instead of the one, and the rear cam doesnt turn on when put in reverse. Kinda crazy how a simple mistake like this has caused this car to freak out

Wait, that doesn't make any sense. I shift out of park with the ebrake engaged all the time. How is it a mistake?

This is the order how I do things
1. Foot on brake
2. Release e-brake
3. Shift to D or R
4. Foot off the brake, onto the gas pedal

I don't see a problem (not a car expert here) if you swap step 2 and 3.

I'm guessing the OP does it like I do, but he forgot to do step 2, he shifted, then stepped on the gas. I've definitely done that, but nothing went wrong with the car after.

I never use the e-brake, I must have activated it without knowing, but I went to the dealer today and you wouldn't believe what was the problem, my LED back up lights that I bought from amazon! It was a brand that i wasn't familiar with but their hardware seemed legit. I should have known something was up when what they shipped didn't fully match what was shown on their store. Those bulbs were were shorting out and causing the fuse for the dash to break, they replaced that fuse and put back the original back up lights on and it was back to normal. Lesson learned, only buy from well rated manufacturers. Unfortunately us coupe owners have a different bulb for back up lights than sedans and its a bulb I've never heard of till now, Bax9s, usually used on euro cars. Sedans get the more widely used T10 type. Gonna play it safe and keep the stock bulbs back there. The tech was using a scare tactic though, he made it seem like switching any light to LED would break the car and void the warranty. o_O Glad I didnt tell him the brake, fogs, and interior lights are all led, sheesh.

Well usually when I push on the gas with the e brake on it automatically disables it lol. I didn't use the backup lights in the LED kit. One guy here reported it blowing the fuse and disabling the whole dash with it.

Thats what happened to me, I didn't order any kit though, as far as I know most of the kits ppl mention on here, EXled, are for sedans since some of the bulbs are different. These were from a company called Ledin. Serves me right but almost all led bulbs using the Bax9s bulb are no name companies. I think ijdmtoy make one but reviews were so so. But yes, the bulbs blew the dash and the car didn't know what to do lol. The fix was easy enough though, I should have done it myself if I just bothered to look.

Awesome! Make sure you check the running wattage of the interior bulbs. I believe they should be under 5w. I won't even touch exterior bulbs unless they're specifically for that

I usually buy name brand but these bulb types are harder to find. I may just forgo getting LEDs for the back up anyway since those are rarely on. I think ijdmtoy were the ones that are known that made LEDs for it but I heard they werent bright. And now I feel that tech is gonna look for LEDs back there anytime i need the car serviced  The interior lights were at least tge same wattage or lower and are Sylvania. the reverse lights, though, shipped from Colorado, looked like some cheap knock offs

Oh wow, I’m having the same issues with my 2016 Civic after changing out the radio. Can you let me know where this fuse at to look for exactly. I’m having a very, verify hard time finding it.

Don’t remember which one exactly since it was a few years ago but whichever is connected to the infotainment system should be the one.

That’s the thing, I’m at a lost here on this one. Can you recall if its under the hood or under the dash board. The Manual is not really ay much for the instrument cluster Fuse. Totally, hopelessly, lost.
