Actually, you are missing the best one available. The Fram Ultra XG7317.

So the Fram Ultra XG7317 tops the other ones I mentioned?

Wix/NAPA Gold or Purolator. All owns by MANN. You can get Purolator One online order at Pepboys for less $7 out the door.

Yes. The best filter for the money (life/efficiency) you can buy. Walmart and/or Amazon usually sells them at decent prices ($8-9).

Yep, as weird as it is...and as much as I detest Fram filters....they actually got the 'Ultra' right. Built VERY well and is a decent price.
And seeing that I only need to change my oil once a year (don't drive much) I'd be willing to pay 3x as much for any oil filter that I thought was better....and I STILL buy the Fram Ultra.

Best filter is overkill. Just get a good filter.

No, y'all are wrong. The best filter I've seen for Honda is Purolator Boss.
I haven't seen a filter that has a heavier can than this. On just outside inspection it looks better than anything I've seen.

Purolator. Nothing gets by us.

Don't judge a book by its cover. It's less efficient than the fram, has a 15000 mile rating compared to 20 and costs considerably more. It does look like a good filter but doesn't have the filtering ability of the Ultra.

The difference between 15 and 20k is only a testimony to the company's advertising style, not the filter itself. For example, there is really no filter that can only take 3 or 5 kmiles. They advertise it as such to tempt with low price and sell more filters. If you advertise longer life, you will sell less filters.

As far as filtering ability goes.... I've seen exactly the same claim for both filters, originating from the same standard test - 99%+ removal of particles 20 micron and larger.

I use the original Honda filters myself. But not the new ones that are made by fram, but the ones that are made by Filtech. But Filtech changed their name to Roki America in 2011. So the new filters have a different part number the old ones were 15400-PLM-A01. But now they are H1540-RTA-515. And instead of saying Honda on them, they now say Hamp on them. They are the same exact filter made by the same exact company. There are even some videos and pictures online cutting them open and comparing the two. But here are some pictures I took comparing the ones I got. The one on the left is the A01 and the one on the right is the new 515

Can you provide link with the Boss being rated at 20 microns. They do claim 99% dirt removal power but without a micron rating is virtually meaningless. The only info I found is rating it at either 32 or 40 microns and this was on Bitog. For some reason, Purolator does not disclose this most likely because it is inferior to the competition.
