Hey all,

I had my end of the lease inspection today, and he found this:

This is the rear right passenger side. What could possibly have done this? I cannot think of anything.
Could this have been here when I got the car and I never noticed?

Sounds about right for the cost to refinish the entire inside door jamb / repair hole.
You're lucky they're not hitting you with frame damage. by law any section of the unibody / aperture panel that has even the tiniest dent is considered FRAME DAMAGE by the insurance.

that looks like an access hole that a PDR person drilled in order to remove a dent. Typical to drill a hole there for quarter panel dents.

But why would he drill to fix a dent thus causing more damage??

Because the quarter panel is in plain sight, the interior door jamb isn't.

Sounds to me like dealer did a PDR and are trying to rape you by charging you for it.

I actually had an independent guy do a PDR job last year on the panel right in front of my front right tire - someone had backed into me and driven off.
But I'm not sure why he'd have to drill a hole back there to fix that. But I do not know anything about PDR or panels.

how else would he get behind the metal of the quarter panel? PDR is manually working the metal back flat to its original shape.

I guess the dent being in front of the front right tire there'd be a hole in the front rather in the back. But is the best entrance actually in the rear?

cause you can't access the back of a quarter panel in order to massage the metal back to shape. Most PDR people would usually stick a grommet in there where they drilled and not leave a drilled hole there.

you don't have to drill it if you can access the back side of the panel.

also do you want a dent on the quarter panel or do you want a hole on the door jamb where noone can really tell from the outside.

If you've never had PDR done there, it looks like there was a dent that a dealer fixed before leasing out to you and trying to charge you for it.
