Excellent work and good news, I am a little surprised that you have not fitred an aftermarket grille already but still great to see all your mods in the pursuit of improved cooling, hats off to you sir.
Thanks.

We actually have the J's grille in the paint booth right now but honestly we were trying to avoid changing out the grille for several reasons.

1. The authentic J's grill takes FOREVER and a day to get. Ask some of the guys who run them and they will all tell you they waited months for one.
2. Fake grilles are a no go. I heard the fitments on them were crap.
3. Cost - J's grille wasn't cheap. Mine was close to 800 dollars after everything.
4. I hate the look. I actually think the stock grille looks the best and contributes the most to the CTR's aggressive styling. So getting rid of it for the J's grille was not something I wanted to do. So really... aesthetic purposes.

I notice you have the EVS grill (maybe you cut it out yourself) is that not enough that you need a J's grille?

Do you have maybe some temp data (ECT, IAT) of a stock vs EVS (OEM Cut out) grill and will you be collecting some data of J's Grill in comparison?

I am really curious on effects of temps when changing out stock grill to other grill

Thanks

Awesome news about the overheating! I'd love to drive your setup around Thunderhill West bet it can get close to the 1:20-1:21 mark.

Glad I kept mine now to get it back to where it was again doh

haha. Sure thing. Let's do thill together sometime.

With the current mods on the car, though it doesn't overheat, the temps are still a bit high to me. Right now (with us TRYING to get the car to overheat) the temps are around 220-240. I'd like to see about about a ~20 degree reduction and (since we've already done every single cooling mod) that's where the J's grill comes in.

I wish I had the grille on hand with me last time at the track so I could just install it right then and there and do a comparison. That would've been the best and most accurate way to test things.

We'll be heading out to buttonwillow on Oct 12 & 13th. I'd bring the grille with me but we're already packing the car full of tires and gas. Assuming ambient temps are about the same as our last session at thill, if the temperature read out is hovering about 200 degrees, I'm guessing the grille works to bring it down by about 15-20 degrees. Either way, we'll see...

I’m always game. I’m done for the year but next spring I should be there quite a bit again. Won’t be 1:23 fast but hoping to break into the 1:24-1:25 range with a completely stock motor.

With the trackspec center vent doesn't the hot air leaving just go back into the hoodscoop, or was that blocked off?
Debating if I should try the trackspec hood vents or just getting the Js/FirstMolding hood in the future.

Will be interesting to see an already opened and free grille such as EVS will stack against J's

Will be anxiously waiting for the data and results, you can probably bet many others on this forum is probably waiting for your temp data comparison on that grille.

I'm not sure about the OEM hood but the seibon hoodscoop isn't really functional. It's like 95% closed up. So i think it's just for aesthetics. haha.

Even if the hoodscoop is functional, I don't think there's a point to it as I don't see how bringing air into the engine bay would help. That area needs the air to be vented OUT, not in.

I think Mishimoto claims that there's air that circulates via the hoodscoop. They state that as the reason to explain the placement of the secondary radiator. But I honestly, don't think there's much air that goes there. Not saying that the secondary radiator is useless, but definitely not as useful as they claim. I think it might help in terms of volume... but that's about it.

Yea. I just got my J's grille back from paint today. I'll be installing it next monday and doing testing at Buttonwillow on 10/12 - 10/13. I'm not expecting much tbh but I guess we'll see.

Chapter 22 - Misc items

1. Honda OEM Trims - Been meaning to "break up" all the white on the car a bit so I ordered the Honda trims. They only came in chrome so I ended up having to wrap them satin black. They were also running into my varis fender extensions so out came the dremel.

2. Mugen Visors - I was kind of against having the visors on but a guy was selling a set on facebook for cheap. He says it had blemishes but honestly I couldn't find it. Whatever. Score! They kind of grew on me after I installed them.

10/7/19 - Car got dropped back off to Elite for some items and track prep:

- Install J's grille
- Install Verus diffuser
- Install EVS tuning lightweight battery tray + battery
- SRS light is on - probably due to loose connection
- Oil change
- Girodisc 2 piece rear rotor install

Love stalking this thread.. I think this is the best looking CTR out there. Quick question, what front lip/ splitter do you have?

haha. It's an authentic one. Needless to say, it was expensive but i heard the fitment on the ebay one was terrible.

OEM lip with Racebred splitter. The rubber part is actually just some rubber seals we got from Home Depot. Had my mechanic do it so that there wouldn't be any gaps between the splitter and the oem lip.

Here is the link for the splitter:
https://racebredcomponents.com/prod...s-front-splitter-blade?variant=20452540907618

My splitter is slightly larger compared to what's listed on the site because of my canards. Just let if you want the dimensions and you can have them make another one for you.

Hows the fitment of your J's one? I know you haven't fitted it yet but I'm looking at one myself and want to know if the real one fits well for that kind of money.
