Who here has had a GenX Si for a short time, but has either traded or thinking of trading it in?

Drive the best at what you can afford and be happy, then mod or dont mod. My 2019 Si was the second choice, the 2019 Miata RF was my first. The cost difference was $4k+, BUT then I modded my Si for $4500 and I m still not done. I want a a new grille, intercooler and CAI. I am not unhappy with my choice, the car is GREAT, but I wished I had "test" driven several other vehicles like the GTI, WRX,.. then I would have felt more satisfied with my decision. My neighbor has TWO 2018 Corvettes (he wont let me "take either for a spin"). Test rode stock racing Mustang GTI, it made me LOVE my Si even more.

OR

Ignore this and do what charleswrivers recommends, I would do it but a my fun vehicle would be an electric bicycle with what I can afford.
You drive the Miata RF?
I was actually interested in them, but they seem to be rare in a manual in my area.

Just recently traded in my 2018 Civic Si sedan with 18k miles for $19,500. Considering I bought it for $22,600 i consider it a win in terms of 1st year depreciation.

I traded in for a 2019 Accord Sport 2.0T 10spd. I was all over the place before deciding on the accord.

They both have their strong suites and weaknesses. I got a good enough deal on both the Civic and the Accord that I pulled the trigger. Overall no regrets.

My 2017 Civic Si averaged 34.1 MPG. My 2018 Accord averaged 25.4 MPG. Both of these numbers are very close to what other owners are reporting on Fuelly.

Using today's national average prices of $2.59 and $3.156 per gallon in New Jersey for regular and premium gasoline, respectively:

The Accord costs 10.2 cents per mile while the Civic costs 9.3 cents per mile. So, the Civic is more economical even considering the extra cost of premium gasoline.
So the gist is that going on your numbers, the Civic outperforms EPA a bit, and Accord underperforms EPA a bit. Interesting, your numbers are a tiny bit more extreme than on Fuelly (2017 Civic Si: 33.3, 2018 Accord Sport 2.0: 27.3). But it's all pretty close. Thanks!

I had an 18 Si for exactly a year before trading to the 19 R only about 2k rolled over. Somethings I miss about the si. Like having money left over to modify and play with the car every month. I had more fun in the Si simply because the R gets me into speeds that end with a jail sentence alot faster. Lol Radar detector highly recommended if you trade up.
I have a Sport Hatch 1.5 & thought exactly that about the Type R that I test drove. The Type R has EXCITING acceleration above around 3.5k and IS fast!!!! It is also super comfy and quiet. But speeding far above the posted limits may become too tempting!

The traffic is terrible !!
I actually like shifting a manual. If I was racing at Laguna Seca I would be shifting gears every few seconds. To me that or driving around Monterey on the PCH would be heaven for me. I do though wish the shifter was connected via rods, not cables, and the clutch was 2x stiffer. My leg needs a little more resistance! Everything is so light on my HB Sport although Motul Gear fluid did improve feel substantially.

I think I’m going to be trading in for a Tesla Model 3 or maybe Y some time next year...
I LOVE the silent torque of EV's, but they do tend to get rather boring after the novelty wears off at which point they become much more like appliances than interactive driving machines.

I definitely have after owning for only about 9 months. I want something sportier and more exciting like an STI or Camaro SS, the Si just feels sort of ordinary and the rev hang is so aggravating. That being said the Si simply makes too much sense to justify trading out. Reasonable payments, insane MPG, well equipped, comfortable, reliable, still pretty fun, etc etc..

I think I’m okay with that... I had my fun with this car and did a lot of modding by myself which was a fun experience. I secretly hate driving so a car that can do some of that for me is awesome. I’m hoping Model Y production will further drop 3 prices next year.

bought a few motorcycles earlier this year then got rear-ended by a distracted driver last month that totaled the motorcycle and nearly totaled me.
Dude why do you have so many bad and psychotic drivers in your area?! I thought Vegas was bad but damn you’ve had a couple crazy experiences already in the last couple of years.

Thinking of the same. Had so much fun on a previous Leaf. Won’t hesitate on a Performance Model 3. May sell privately to get better pricing. Good luck!

Had my si for over a year and a half. FBO + ethanol (stock turbo). I started contemplating getting something different as i was getting use to the car and the excitement level was going down.

What I ended up doing is buying an older beater as my “new” daily.
2006 Mazda 6 for $1800. 108k miles. I started driving it to work and to the gym instead of my si, for 5 days a week.
It was nice and relaxing to have an automatic that’s quiet and doesn’t have a clutch.
When I got back into my si for the first time in 5 days, it put such a smile on my face again you can’t even imagine! You get use to what you have and take it for granted. For me, getting an old beater cured my desire to sell my Si, and I fell in love all over again.
So in my personal experience, sometimes we crave for more not realizing what we have is already exactly what we want. You just need to figure out how to appreciate it again :)

Had my '18 SI for about a year and a half now, absolutely love the car but have been pondering trading it in. Mostly as a financial decision - my wife wants/needs a bigger vehicle, so may trade the SI towards a Telluride/Palisade/Pilot/whatever then take her CX-5 as my daily.

I just can't say enough nice things about the Telluride/Palisade from the quiet, smooth ride to the interior materials to the perceived build quality to the impressive amount of interior space to the exterior design. I'm old enough to remember when the first Kias and Hyundais went on sale in the US and how..."undesirable"...they were - at least for me. The Telluride/Palisade is the first model that truly sheds a new (and positive) light on the company. I have no need for a three-row SUV, but if I did this one would be very high on my list.

I am most likely trading in next year (trying to be patient and see what changes multiple platforms make in 2020). The 10th gen Si is an awesome daily with a sporty feel to it, I considered going the mod route to satisfy the urge for more speed but I think I would rather switch to something with a bit more potential as I honestly feel like we are handicapped with a 1.5 which is why I dont bother modding and I do think its awesome to see some of you out there pushing the limits on these 1.5T but I know how I am once I get the mod bug I go pretty extreme and I honestly feel like the most logical thing to do would be to go to a platform that has more potential whether it be the Type R or maybe even a Mustang GT I have not made up my mind hell I even threw the Golf R as a potential candidate as you can see I am not a brand loyalist although Honda's will always be one of my favorite brands.

If you wonder "why did you get the Si in the first place then" well, I just had a very good pay increase almost double of what I made before I got the Si so had I been making this when I went to purchase my Si I would have probably got the Type R and this is nothing against the 10th gen Si like I said before I think its a great car especially for the price I paid 23k out the door at that price point its the best bang for your buck but now I want more and can comfortably afford more I just cant seem to make up my mind on what I want. I honestly could have afforded the Type R before but I also take into account that I wanna have extra money for traveling, eating shit tons of Sushi on weekends (yes I am serious sushi gets expensive) and also to still have money to keep renovating my house and signing my daughter up for activities over the years I wont let my urge for a specific car come in the way of my priorities so I weigh in everything before I pull the trigger.

Hyundai and Kia have come a LONG way, I've been pleasantly surprised by some of their cars when I've had them as rentals. So far I have heard nothing but glowing reviews of the Telluride and Palisade, and their bang/buck or price/feature balance can't be beat.
